  • MIBII Not Working Intermittently

G'Day Gang, My MIBII doesn't boot/start intermittently and I literally have to shut down the engine and get out of the car, lock it and then re-enter the car and then it starts. It's happened on 4 occasions, first time was at the dealership at hand over which embarrassed the salesman no end but at the time the radio was working but the screen was just blacked out. I am aware that these Canbus systems are temperamental as we also have a diesel Astra that wont start occasionally and needs to be locked and then re-opened to get it to start. I am wondering if this is happening to anyone else out there?

Yeah mine has done it once - first day I got it too. Also had some instances where the reverse camera won't start.

I've been to the Dealership and they are uploading the details to VWAG for review. I'll let you know the outcome when/if it happens.

The Dealer has logged it with VGA and the official response is, "We are aware of the problem and a Patch is being developed and will be released when ready". So we have to be patient and wait for the Service Bulletin to be released.

Screen blanked out last week, reset itself the next morning. Now just had the rear camera not wanting to show any image. "Park pilot not working" was the pop up message. Rear badge allowed camera to extend so I am thinking the problem rests with the MIBII.

And I was just saying how good this unit was after inputting POIs for speed/red light cameras.

I am now in week 14 of dealing with this problem.
Every morning on start up and any time the car sits for 8hrs or more.
Usually 5-10 minutes, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter.
The reset technique does nothing for my vehicle, neither does restarting the car.
Now when it does come on I have no phone connection and no satnav.
VW Customer care has stopped responding to my emails (back in September) and I have been told I just have to wait for a fix!
If I was as unscrupulous as VW I would offload the car to an unsuspecting dealer and buy something else.

Didn't they stop because you were told to wait for the fix?

I was told by the dealership that I just had to wait, the customer care centre sent an email on 25/9/15 saying someone will contact me in 2-3 business days.
On top of the original problem I now have no phone connection or satnav either.
                    13+ weeks is ridiculous.

It's probably not on the high priority list with Volkswagen right now.

I had to fight for 6 months to get a new engine/ cooling system in our MY14 GTI which we no longer own. It would go months with not hearing a word from VW.

Test the process you use to enter the car.

Try a couple of different methods of unlocking the car. For example use the touch pad on the drivers door one morning and then the remote next morning and see if there is a different response from the car. I find that I have to shut it down, get out and relock the car and then start again by using the touch pad. It worked for me.

                          Park pilot not available

This is starting to sour my experience with the MIB2 system, while selecting reverse I am getting a warning pop up box " Park pilot not available" which does not show the reverse camera's image. Camera has activated (eg: opened in the rear badge).
                          Third failure this week.
Come on Volkswagen fix your sh*t up and release an update.

Anyone out there with the same problem please let the forum know.

I'm another member experiencing problems with my MIB II . I've also been told that I have to wait for a fix. My service rep mentioned that it could take up to 2 months.
