Have the same problem appear this morning. Day 2 of owning 92TSI base model.
    "Parking Pilot not available"

I asked the dealer yesterday - if it was up to date - obviously he said yes !
Any updates from others ? - is there a fix yet ?

It has to be a software bug - base model doesn't have Parking Pilot - right ?
I hear the camera move - but screen is blank

I did a hard reset on mine and it has been good since. Holding power button for 10 or 20 sec until you get Vw logo

update... The problem is now back

I was speaking to someone who has just left the Volkswagon network and was surprised to hear that quite a few cars have been bought back over problems with the media unit.

I took delivery of the car in December 2015. Have had the issue since February. Sometimes the camera doesn't retreat, other time the error "Park Pilot Currently not available".

Took the car to the dealer at least 3 times, in an attempt to fix the problem. Only today, they admitted that this is a "known" issue and do not have a fix for this yet.

It does appear to be a problem deeply embedded in the unit, I suspect there won't be solution coming anytime soon. Some spectacular poor verification and validation of the features they put into their models.

It would be interesting to see if anyone develops a fix for this.

jeez, I'm seriously thinking of pulling the pin for a new R, but issues like this really put me off!

I hate going anywhere near a dealer after a new car purchase, I hope you guys get it sorted.

My Golf is only 3 months old and has the same issue with mib. They are still working on firmware to resolve the issue. I find that if I switch of my radio before switching off the car it does not happen as often.(now once a fortnight).. Anyway not a big deal as I love the rest of the car.

No issues for mine yet - touch wood. Purchased mine from VW Central and was installed by Automodelista who did a fantastic job!

I've just had my MY16 GTi to the dealers for an intermittent miss inn the engine when it's cold. They couldn't find it???? I also asked about this patch and they still don't have a fix, 9 months and counting. Anyone else hear of a solution from VW yet?

Got my R 4 days ago and I've got the park pilot issue, running P0220D firmware, however it seems that the Xx222D is still problematic.

I'll speak to my dealer tomorrow

I had my MY16 GTi MIB go blank when I started it about a week ago and took it straight to the dealership with the engine running. They downloaded the data and sent it to VGA and 24 hours later I got a call to take it back and when I did they updated the firmware and since then I've not had the problem appear. It was interesting that when I first got the car it happened occasionally but settled down and only happened on the reverse camera occasionally. After the visit to the dealership for the miss (see above 22/06/16) the blank screen started occurring almost every time I started the car, put it in reverse or just dropped out for no logical reason. I'm looking forward to washing my pride and joy toy today.

Booked my car in for a service today and mentioned I'd like whatever the latest software is installed. The lady informed me that over the weekend VW issued a recall for all effected vehicles. I don't know how to check if that's BS or not but it sounds like they have a proper fix now.

That all said I haven't actually had the problem for quite a while now. It seems to have settled. Weird.
