I'd be betting, with the Melbourne Cup tomorrow, that they have a rather large workload at the moment with the Diesel issue to resolve so unless they suddenly got a load of new staff, things like this are going to slow down even more than usual. 13 weeks to get a solution is a bit rugged. I was just thinking have you tried the "Factory Reset" menu option?

I had to fight for 6 months to get a new engine/ cooling system in our MY14 GTI which we no longer own. It would go months with not hearing a word from VW.
Not sure if you know about wiring diagrams, but here's my pared-down version of the pertinent bit of the circuit
You can see the that the video signal from the RVC connects to PIN #6 & 12 of the infotainment unit (the MIBII), but the initiating signal comes from the reverse switch which makes the BCM (Body Control Module) produce a voltage on PIN #64 (connector T73a - which means the 73 pin connector on the "A" socket). Now PIN#64 also supplies power to the right side reversing light - hence my question
Hope this all makes sense - sorry if I have confused you

So spoke to my service manager about an update which was released a few weeks back by VW. They suggested not to go ahead with that update as problems were reported (screen freezing and resetting itself). Another fix is underway.
I should try them again the start of March.

The reason that I ask is because the initiating signal for turning-on the reversing camera comes from the right-side reversing light.

I got my car in oct 2015, had the exact same issue on the first week and every 6-7 days it happens again. I called service centre today and the service guy told me they might not be able to fix this issue. I am gonna bring in the car to check in 2 weeks.

Just went to service 10 days ago, they updated the software and told me the issue is fixed. I got the car back with a smile face then the pilot thing is not working again on the day after
I called them and they said they can't fix it, have to wait for the next software update.

zorjiz,
I had mine updated today, so it is too early to tell whether it was a complete success. After driving around most of the day following the install, there have not been any problems. Not getting too excited as yet.
Can you please check on the software update page on the MIB (press and hold MENU until it displays) and where it says 'Installed SW train version' as to whether the last six characters displayed are P0222D? The previous update ended in P0221D. The Service Advisor stated this update was only just released. I just want to see whether you and I have the same update.
Thanks.White MY17 Golf 7R with DSG and DAP.

I had the update conducted on 9th March to P0222D, have not seen any problems yet. Before I was having the park pilot unavailable a few times a week and a couple of blank screens.Flipper Dog
