Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      • Also thinking about it but I'm not a fan of clutter or things dangling down from somewhere. Is it possible to conceal the control box effectively without having it hanging down or sitting on the dash etc? Can it be concealed in the glove box for example?

        • Anybody fitted rally armor mud guards to their golf R or Golf R wagons. I’m thinking of doing it?

There's a few pics of cars with them fitted in the wheel thread - maybe if you're putting on a set of OZ rally wheels?

Personally I'd much prefer the stone chips.

I fitted a pedal box to my 2014 7R ....it is brilliant and the control box fits neatly into the little coin glove box, left side of the wheel. You just pull the unit into the box from the back, coin box partially open and you are done.

                • I’m still waiting for my car to get here from the dealer. Seems like it’s taking forever.

In the meantime...what do you folks use for music input to the Dynaudio. I currently have a very old 20G iPod in my centre console. Was thinking I could upgrade to a SD Card in the glove box for the Wolfsburg.

                  • The beauty of the Discover Pro and Dynaudio is the number of options. I ended up loading up the car's 10gb hard drive with a lot of music.

How do you go about transferring them to the cars HD?

It can be transferred via the USB or SD card. I used a memory stick through the USB when I was doing the radio station logos.

                        • Just been advised a tow bar CANNOT be fitted. Back to square one. Does anyone know of a performance hatch that is RWD or AWD that can have a tow bar fitted?? I am prepared to even take a low Km 2 year old car if it fits the bill. I only want to tow a motorbike trailer with one bike. It has never been this hard before.

                          • Had the same problem.
Only need to go camping twice a year with a small trailer.
Let us know what you go with,

                            • Just hire something for when needed..

Or enquire the usual suspects.. RWD BMW, AWD is as limited as well in the affordable stuff.. WRX.. Commodore VXR lol. There just aren't many candidates, and whether any of them permit a tow is another question again.

                              • Honestly, if you absolutely have to tow something, just buy something else... maybe a 162TSI Tiguan?
