Sorry Kevlarman, this is all I have. All the dealers have had this since early Nov though so whoever you're dealing with should have the whole thing.

The vin goes into the Cargo ID. Then when you find out the ships name pop it into the marine maps.

Mine is due to port on the 17/1. Dealer says pick up end of Jan or first week in Feb.

Re 18 vs 18.5 - it was a lazy response as in ‘its a ‘my18 wolfie’, even though the production is said to start on cw45 for my18.5 and mine was built in cw47 - maybe the order was for my18 and is built as such, even though the build week is after production beginning on My18.5s.

We will soon find out. I’m hoping it’s a 18.5. Will make the long wait a little more worth it.

                    • 17,5 and 18

My understanding after just speaking to my dealer is that it is a 17.5 and 18, not 18.5. 18’s are post week 45. I have also been informed that the Oettinger kit does not fit the 17.5. Anyone have info on this ? Dealer know very little

^ This is the most accurate bit.

Presumably they mean a Mk7 kit won't be compatible with a Mk7.5 kit and vice versa.

                        As for MY17, MY18 and MY18.5 - yawn.

It can be ok if you don't want the worry of a finance shortfall, and don't mind a) paying a premium for it, or b) meeting all the rules and regulations that apply.

I'm not specifically familiar with the VW offering but they usually feature mileage conditions, restrict any modifications and require servicing and insurance through the seller etc. Often they combine them with low rates that look appealing but will generally be based on RRP pricing and so on.

It's like the extended warranty insurance products people get excited about on here (as distinct from manufacturer backed warranties) - it's an insurance policy priced so the house wins, naturally, but if it helps some people sleep at night good for them.

Thanks Dutch. I understand the convenience of it but you pay for it. I’ll be looking at it next week plus looking at Stratton.

Spot on. Some people buy Toyotas and prepaid funeral plans, some of us buy Dubs..

For most people the best rate will be via a supplementary home equity loan (unless you're a medico or HNW individual), however if you can get it signed off as a business loan the best rates there can usually be negotiated within 50 basis points of most home loan rates anyway.

Best bet is to keep the dealer finance in the game for as long as possible as they may often strike a better car price if they're still sniffing the chance of a finance commission.
