Thought I would update.
I know it ain't Wolfsburg but my R was apparently delivered today. Dealer sent me the photos.
Pickup on Monday!

I cancelled my order which was placed in Aug,if anyone is intersted $65.5k ask for Eric at Denlo Parramatta nsw,,blue hatch sunroof,delivery should of been Dec but it looks like it will be in a new year due to delays with sunroofs.

I also thought the additional $500 price tag was a little suspicious.

As for the vehicle price, it's probably got something to do with the area I'm in, and I tried 5 different dealerships, all offering a similar price bracket for the car (around $67k) give or take $300-$400. I even attempted walking away from the deal multiple times but that didn't seem to change their minds unfortunately due to it being the limited edition. All of their dealer deliveries were around $3.4k which I thought was ridiculous but I bit the bullet and made the purchase because I didn't want to miss out on the Wolfy, especially since it was already August.

One dealership tried quoting me $68.5k because he added the Driver Assistance Package on top of the Wolfsburg. I don't think he realised that I did a mountain of research beforehand so he played the wrong person...

Hey guys today is a good day ... I rang the dealer to get a vin to see if I could track my new baby that’s due 1st week of December .. they rang back saying they had an additional allocation of a Wolfie due a month earlier which I could have!! [emoji106][emoji41]

So frustrating. They had 300 cars they needed to organise how hard could that have been. Specially since its been on the road in Europe for so long already.

They have no clue VWA, what you do is you pre-plan to import your top of the range Rs at launch, then all else trickles down... hero first hits the streets as their best marketing strategy ever (for any car launch).

I'm not sure VWOz should wear all the blame in this case. I got the impression that they did pre-order a whole lot of Wolfies for the initial release of the Mk 7.5, but VW Germany didn't give their orders any build priority over normal orders for whatever component/s are in short supply. It does seem a bit of a marketing fail though, whoever is at fault.

I understood there had been issues in sourcing the active displays but is it a marketing fail when almost everyone here is still buying one? Most with little to no discount? Marketing success me thinks..

There were 6-9 month waits for Mk6 GTIs once upon a time..
