Wolfsburg Edition Golf R

So finally got word of my wolfsburg being on the February delivery...there's no way I can go through the whole of summer especially without a car. After calling around a bit I found a spare white wolfsburg hatch due in a month or two at south yarra but without a sunroof.

Anybody know of any other dealerships of any wolfsburg hatches floating around un-allocated earlier than February with a sunroof?

Otherwise Ill just look to pickup a floor model standard golf r off the showroom floor thats mine in 2 weeks if I give the go ahead.

I went straight to VWA for confirmation... what I know so far is that my Hatch Wolfie with sunroof will be build late Jan with a delivery early March having ordered it on the 4th of July. My dealer yet to check and come back to me.

I am going through a Veruca Salt moment once every day.

Personally I couldn't wait that long. I would ring around and see what other dealers are saying.
In saying that, I'm going in now to test drive the R finally. I'm also going to see if I can change to Wolfsburg if I can score one by December. See how I can go.

You could possibly get one without a sunroof and Wolfies with sunroofs will be next year. March.

Nah need a roof, after having the roof in my past 3 GTI's I can't go without one.

Mr T I can confirm (from my dealer anyway) that the earliest Wolfsburg (in Blue, with roof) that they will receive is in mid Feb, and that's still a 17 build, if I was gonna wait that long, I'd hold out more and get an 18 build.
They will have a black one come in a bit earlier, but don't want black.
For me, 6 months wait for the Wolfsburg is too long just so I can get Dynaudio. That's all I want. After listening to one in low volume, it really is that much better than stock and I'm pissed at VWA for not allowing it on the standard R.

Anyway I have 2 options, I can retro fit it $$$$$ but at least it's genuine (also confirmed my warranty shouldn't be affected if I went down that path), or I can buy a VW sub kit from them that will be half the cost and it fits in the spare wheel like the dynaudio. Won't be the same as dynaudio but should make it better than stock.

Just throwing this out for comment, the new 7.5R Wolfsburgs have 'Grey Metallic' Pretorias with Carbon grey mirror caps and 3 body colours Oryx white, Lapiz Blue and Pearl Black. Previous 7R Wolfsburgs had Black Pretorias with black mirror caps. Which wheel colour is best?

Yeah, see, I don't like the Pretorias. Especially not in grey. I reckon looks a lot better, that in conjunction with the Black mirror caps.

I like both but black would be my preference. Never had black wheels.

The answer to that question depends very much on personal preferences, there is no such thing as an objective "best" colour (although some may be more popular than others).

Two observations that might be relevant- Black wheels won't show the dreaded VAG brake dust as much as the grey, but to me black wheels tend to look smaller than the same wheel painted in a lighter colour.

Did the Wolfsburg 7.5 that needs detailing come with Continental tyres ? And if so, which version ?

Been to a few dealers to pass the time and all R's I've seen so far come with the Continental CSCs, including one Wolfsburg on display.

Also a quick update, finally managed to get a hold of my dealer and looking like Dec delivery for my blue wolfie hatch with roof. Saw another dealer's NADCOM system today, earliest wolfie roof hatches coming Dec with most of them sold out, maybe one with roof left at a big city dealership? Still a couple of non-roofs due in anywhere from Feb to even Apr 2018

Test drove a standard R today also, very impressed with the screens. Tried out bluetooth audio as thats what I'll be using the most, sounded great on the standard audio but anything over 25% volume got a bit scratchy and unsatisfying. Still an upgrade on my crappy current no name audio but glad I'll be getting the Dynaudio in the end.

Didn't take any, so sorry! Too busy enjoying myself on the test drive. It was a white Wolfie hatch, apparently the guy who ordered it changed his mind to a standard R upon seeing it as he enjoyed the standard R rims more.

Carbon mirror caps were beautiful as was the badge on the back! Undecided on Spielbergs v Pretorias personally now I've seen both. Can say after sitting in both the Vienna and the carbon nappa seats the latter are slightly more comfy to be in, do like how it breaks up the cabin a bit more too.
