I was about to have a go at Adam until I realised you cut his quote back; still like the classic 710s but I think it's 810s for me for the Mk7.

The 702 can still work, although I think it might look better on sedans (Audi A3, A4; BMW 3; maybe VW Jetta/Passat?) although I have no particular reason for thinking this way:

Yep, I'm with you on that Dutch. If the OEM 18s I've chosen for the S3 don't end up looking the biz, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up going a set of 702s.

I'm thinking 702s in gunmetal on my white R when it arrives. If not, VWR....

            I would be.

Although I think they would look magic on the S3 - if I stay put then hopefully I can do this look in the future. But I think they are suited to a 19 inch finish, those spokes get a little concave and push out aggressively to the edge on the 19s, but that's where it falls over as I'd get the Audi v spokes then.

You get two choices to satisfy your caffeine cravings - there's a straight matte gunmetal and then a matte gunmetal with brushed aluminium face. I'd probably want to compare the two in better pictures or in the flesh to work out what suited the white R better although I think both will work - but I can admit a bias to graphite/gunmetal finishes. The one good thing is they're now easy enough to source locally for $2k.

If you're budget can stretch further, and I'm guessing it can given the R purchase and talk of VWRs then personally I'd be all over the OZ Superturismo LMs in graphite. There's a white GTI or two in this thread wearing them. If you're keen PM me when you're ready and we can at least get a local price as comparison.

              • Is there a spec for wheels that will be a direct replacement in either 18" or 19" that doesnt need any spacers etc?

Depends how aggressive you want to be, but x 8.5 ET45 is around the mark for wheels at the corner without work/spacers/custom sizing. Based on feedback from those that have gone to this mark you'd definitely be fine on the back but may have a few mm poke at the front at stock height.

Thanks mate and is it most common to whack on some 235/40 R18's?

The stock size is 225/40; however in the past I believe people have run 235/40 as it was usually a lot cheaper being a Falcodore sizing. With the 225s becoming common the pricing has come down - there is just over 1% diameter difference so should not be a problem.

Thanks, glad the thread is being enjoyed.

Money no object the M52s look great; but the SRs have definitely grown on me (and others on the list) and are the cheapest entry point to BBS locally. They're fairly heavy from memory being designed originally as a winter wheel, but would be very strong at a guess too.

I'm assuming a photoshopped Cadiz with blacked out sections? Something like that should be the GTI 19 inch option instead of the fugly Santiagos! Depends if you want OEM or want to go aftermarket, but at least this way you could experiment with plastidip without impacting the value of the rims first.

my only complaint with the SR is the lack of spoke milling for that aggressive look - like the R-ID has

i have Wedsports's on my evo which have the spokes milled out, and had to pay extra to have it done on my ADV's on the GTR
