Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi everyone. Its been a long 2 months or so for me and my badly hail damaged GTI has been written off by my insurance. It was very sad dropping off my badly damaged yet mechanically sound car off yesterday
Long story short, my insurance policy covers a complete replacement car as it is within 2 years. As per my signature, you can see I have the regular GTI but lucky enough to have bi-xenons, leather and panoramic roof options fitted. What I have been let to believe however from reading this forum is that bi-xenons are no longer available on regular GTI's. My insurer says that they have to get all the options as per sales contract and if not available, then I do have the option of a complete payout.
If this were to happen, I probably would end getting the GTI performance (no roof however). What would be a reasonable price to expect for a GTI performance with leather?
PS: this is such a first world dilemma but I am sure you all would understand. GTI without bi-xenons or GTI performance without roofCurrent - MK7|GTI Performance|CSG|Leather|Driver Assist|

Would the complete payout be on the value of the car for insurance purposes or the cost of a new replacement model?
General consensus was the GTI PP was around a 5k premium over the GTI from memory.
This article might be a good read for comparison between gti and gti pp

There has been some option amendments to the MY15.5 which include sunroof option on GTI PP which could be a solution. Though won't have delivery until around mid year.

Hi all,
I'm picking up my barely used Golf GTI next week. I bought it used from the dealer as the general manager's wife used to drive it. It has 10,000 km's on the clock, charcoal in colour, bi-xenons, dsg and leather.
Thought I got it for quite a good price at $44,000 drive away. Feeling some buyers remorse now though. Can't wait to drive it though!

Hi. My GTI is due for its very first service (8500km already lol) and I was wondering what sort of things I should ask the dealer to look into. What sort of warranty issues have other GTI owners had attended to so far? I just want to be mindful of what I could be asking them to check and for me to keep an eye/ear out to notice if I have the same issues. The only thing is my suspension that's quite noisy but I don't know if that's normal, and a sunroof that makes a straining noise sometimes.Current: Mk7 GTI, DSG, White, Leather, Driver assist, Sunroof, Xenons
Previous: MY10 Golf 118 tsi, Candy White, Sports Pack, Corn Leather, MDI.

Hi Guys, My new Golf GTI is arriving in about 2 weeks... and for some reason it totally slipped my mind about what to do about plates!..
The dealer said they will fit premium plates, but I'm thinking of keeping my current custom plates and changing the style over to Euro plates.
the myplates rta site says it can take 3 weeks for the new plates to arrive howeverso I have two questions.
1) Can anyone think of a smart way to handle this? I guess I could hold back picking up the car but I don't know if I can wait lol
2) Can somebody confirm if the white euro style plates fit the Golf GTI's default plate holder on the front and the best way to put them on?
cheers.

I simply asked the dealer for them a few weeks before I picked the car up. It works out cheaper to buy them with the car that buying them afterwards.
