Yeah does a bit but nothing I can do, VW won't sell PP. I'm picking my new car up today, wish I could wait a couple months for the Face-lift version but I really need a car.
Just called VW Australia and they say there is no PP but there is a GTI performance as a separate car. Called the local dealer to ask wtf was going on, they said they aren't making anymore and there is only 7 left in the country which aren't to the specs I'm after (sun roof, leather seats etc). I feel I was lied to and I'm pretty annoyed by it. I'm picking the car up today and I feel a bit disheartened.

To be honest, if you're not tracking the car or do plenty of twisty roads you don't really need the mechanical differential.
You're not missing much from the standard GTI.
It's only the tail light, alcantara seats and the differential bigger brakes and 7kw (which you won't feel).
You'll still enjoy the GTI. Just tune the car and you're pretty much the same as any other tuned GTI performance pack

As lame as it sounds I want the Red GTI branded brakes haha. I will never track the car, you are right, I'm sure I'm going to love it either way, I've wanted a GTI for many years so no regrets. Lets see how long it takes for me to want the R haha.

Signed on the dotted line today - 2016 GTI in Deep Pearl Black. Sold my WRX by 830 this morning and by lunch time i'd bought the GTI (after some intense haggling!)
2016 car, with DSG and tint, $42,500 drive away, from Brighton VW.
I have the stock 19's on my GTI Performance and wheel hop was an issue under heavy acceleration from a stand still or slow-ish roll. I now have a dog-bone insert and the wheel hop is almost a non-issue, and that's with a JB1 adding more power.
I got mine from US while I was travelling, a whole lot cheaper than anyone in Australia. For installation, I had my mechanic do it up for me while putting on my flow design lip, didn't charge me a thing coz it was too simple of a job lol.

*Just an update.
I got the 034 Dogbone mount installed and oh wow what a difference. I don't think I have encountered any wheel hop, and it has been about a month since installing it. At times when my tires are feeling happy, I can floor it with minimal wheelspin.
