Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

First VW I've ever owned so pretty excited

Just keep an eye on when the wheel is on full lock for a clicking sound. You will hear it with windows down and around roundabouts or in carparks.
If you do hear it, take it in to get fixed under warranty.

Just FYI I can't hear the famous click noise, however, only my passenger door trim LED strip works, none of the others are lighting up in the car under any circumstances so I will have that looked at, also the Pre-delivery "detail" was probably the worst detail I've seen in my life & having been in carsales over 10 years I've delivered over 500 new + used cars & never seen something like this lol, car was COVERED in swirl marks, we used to call it "showroom detail" so it's going back to the dealer for that & they've scratched the **** out of the black trimming between the windows so that aswell..

I'm over in Europe - just ordered a 2019 Golf R Variant. Spain spec, which isn't amazing but comes with enough to keep me happy (pano sunroof, black roof rails, black mirrors, alcantara seats, 19" black Pretorias). September delivery all going well!

So I woke up on Saturday morning to a push notification from the Carsales app. Dealers have dropped the price of 2019 Golf R to $54,990 on-road.
Quick squiz at the finances and wifey and I realised we could trade our 2018 Golf GTI Original for about $20k, pay off its loan and only have to pay $200 more per month to be sitting in an R. 4 hours later at VW Berwick and we had a signed contract for an R with Dynaudio in Tornado Red plus tint, door sill protectors and black mirror caps for $54,990 on-road and we got $22k for the GTI. Hopefully gets delivered in 3 weeks.
Not bad considering the GTI is 15 months old with knackered tyres and 35k kms on the ODO.

Today the 31st of July 2019 we took delivery of our Pure White MK7.5 MY19.5 R Wagon with all options.
We also purchased the VW 5 year Service Care Plan.
Took the R to Mount Tamborine and back home. The LED headlights are amazing. Tried modes, Race. Comfort, Normal.
I drove up the mountain and it felt like it was a level road, no sense of climbing a mountain. Felt strange. The wife drove back.
I prefer the drivers seat. So much to learn about the R. Will have to read all the information in the handbook and on here as well.
I took HW100 Gav's advice, warm the R up, then drive it hard!
Be back soon, cheers Al

On Tuesday we picked up our new MY19.5 Golf R in red with Dynaudio, tint, and white on black plates. We'd ordered the black mirror caps but the dealer forgot to fit them so we have to wait 3 weeks but it's not the end of the world.
Went up to Sassafras for lunch and enjoyed lovely quiet twisty roads. Even though we've got to run it in first it was obvious there was a lot of power on tap compared to the GTI Original it replaced.
William Fu from Berwick VW was brilliant and I'd highly recommend you ask for him if you're looking to buy.Ben

Well done Ben,
We drove the new 7,5 Golf Gti clone the Skoda VRS 245 and then straight to test drive our R wagon. It only had 25 ks on it and we put an extra 20ks or so on.
I think the sound actuactor makes it feel faster. Certainly there is more potential than the Gti.
But even the R doesn't come close to my MY06 WRX that had 236 kwatw. The R is more civilised with adaptive suspension control.
So Ben how are you going to run the R in?
Gav a respected tuner and Moderator in the Polo section here, HW100 advised me to get the engine and DSG warmed up and drive it hard. Gav is not the first advisor to say that about running in new engines.

i too picked up an R wagon last week certainly enjoying it too.
Question around the tinting. From factory I can see the rears have privacy glass, is this UV blocking? is it worth tinting further?
Is the panoroof tinted from factory with UV protection?
Can the front windows be tinted further legally (in VIC)?

Is the Gav you mentioned from Underground Performance? If so, he services my VWs.
