Placed an order for a GTi Original manual 2 weeks ago and it finally arrived dealer's car yard today
It will be my 2nd Golf GTi ... previous one was a 2007 Mk5 3dr with DSG

Potentially looking for used 18” wheels in silver/grey to replace stock 19” black Pretorias for daily driving.

Ordered a 7.5 Golf R Wagon in Indium last week with all boxes ticked. MY18, so it doesn't have the "improvements" they made to the parking sensors and Discover Pro in MY19. Delivery is tentatively Friday! Very much looking forward to, well, everything. Have been dreaming about an R for many years. Only wish the wheels looked a bit less weird; I loved the pretorias on the wolfy!

They're trying to sell me a GlassCoat paint protection product. The car spends a lot of its life outside, un-garaged and subject to bird poop. Is this stuff worth the grand that they're asking for it?

I'm not sure what you are telling about with the discover pro and sensor improvement? Care to fill me in with a bit more detail on that?

MY19 removed the internal music storage on the Discover Pro, and the parking sensors are front speakers only (previously, rear sensors came out of rear speakers). There's also no more chrome detail on the hazard light switch (this is evident on the brochure of the MY19 cars).

Source could be dubious and may not apply here, but since I haven't driven any MY19 cars, I didn't want to take the chance. Runout deals on the MY18 were good enough for me to pull the trigger.

About to order an R wagon, had fleet offers of $60K for MY19 7.5 (18 build delivery in a month) or MY18 model made in 18 delivery now for $58K.

Identical spec - ie: the lot, DA, Dyaudio and Roof.

Am I going to see any difference in spec, and am I going to care in 3 years when the lease is up? Thoughts?

Curious to know which colour for the MY18! I am a bit concerned that I may have just been taken for a ride! Those prices are insanely good!

They are fleet price as I novate through work. Plain white for me, sets off the gloss black trims ect and easily maintained.

But getting straight finance quotes is a job in itself, so much markup, so many tricks, real PITA.

Lendly have been damn good though.l

Pretty happy. Ordered a new MY19 Comfortline today. White. Boring to most of you I know! With Drivers Assist and Sight & Sound packages. Pick up December 9. Have read somewhere that MY19s lose the passenger side under seat storage drawer. It's NOT in the spec PDF. But I also read somewhere it IS still provided. Anyone know for sure?

Also, I have driven loaners with stop start system when my current Golf was in for service. Not sure I like it. Can it be disabled at all, apary from pushing the button on the console EVERY time you start the car?

Nothing boring about picking up a new car. I’d be excited.

Only way you’re going to know for 100% sure about the underseat drawer is when you pick up your car.

You can always fit one later if you really want it. I’ve got them and forget they’re there so don’t use them anyway.

Stop/start can be disabled permanently. Just find someone with a VCDS cable or OBD11. Takes 2 minutes.

Source states the following changes:

• Security and Service is added as standard specification on GT, R-Line, GTD, GTI Performance and R
• Cancellation of chrome from Hazard warning switch
• Parking sensors - cancellation of rear tone generator – sound now only in front speakers
• New fuel labelling and graphical symbols
• Interior mirror inlay instead of frameless

I found this video of the tumeric R (not sure if it's only a 2019 color, or if Europe had it for 201, but it shows a frameless mirror: YouTube Vid was posted Oct 2018 so it seems it's a MY18?
