The Official "I have ordered/received my new MK7 Golf" Thread
I read that as you picked up a manual (instruction booklet) for the original GTI (mk1). And it was red.
Anyway, congrats! I LOVED my GTI when I was in the US. Best car I ever owned, and bonus: it was the first car I ever bought new. Cars are stupid cheap over there. Paid under US$26K for mk6 Autobahn (top trim).
As you may be gathering Australia is home of the uniquely named Golf, aka Original, 40th Edition etc.
It never amused Commodore buyers that a car built here was sold with a higher spec for less money in the States.

It did give me a bit of a tickle and maybe even a bit of nostalgia when I saw the occasional rebadged Commodore in the States. I used to own an ‘86 Commodore wagon which was a great car for being in a band

They've ended up with their own unique following (and parts options) due to the Nissan six under the hood. I had a few LS V8s before I caught the VW --> VAG --> Euro bug again.

I must admit that the LS engine range is pretty amazing. I feel that there will need to be an LS3 in my life at some point.
I hear you.
When I was looking for my current ride - and I'm not sure I was looking seriously or not - I did trawl through quite a few last of the line HSVs.
When I look at the lines of things like the new Audi E-tron GT concept and think, how good would this thing look disappearing into the distance with the sound of combustion. Lot's of it. Sigh..

Ordered a MY19 Comfortline with Drivers Assist for flat $29k driveaway. I HAD ordered same with Sight and Sound for $32900 but dealer reneged. So I did Not go back to THAT dealer and very happy with what I get just before Christmas!
WHITE 118FSI DSG MY12 Sports Pack with RNS510 Sat Nav - PICKUP Oct 17, 2011. Added Chrome bootlid spear-very nice, Golf doorsill protectors-not so nice and Aluminium Pedal set-EXTREMELY nice!
And on a happy note I have an order in for a boring white Golf R Wagon, MY19 with 'roof and Dynaudio.
Hope to be delivered before Dec 21....Merry Christmas to me
I quite like the white but would have been happy with blue, the red or maybe the grey at a pinch.
Soooooooo, the ship "my" car was on got held up like 2 weeks outside of Fremantle, it's still there somewhere.......
Dealer has sourced another MY 19 R wagon with required options delivered a couple of weeks earlier to Sydney.
Now the wait is to get it down from there etc etc, delivery is now somewhere around 27-29 Dec.
At last, it's made it home! Doing a good storm trooper impression with everything mostly gloss black on the white body (not sure about the brushed chrome mirror shells, I think they look a bit naff so they may get replaced with some real fake carbon ones).
Engine is still tight but geez it's a rocket sled, handling and responsive steering is sensational and nice grumbly exhaust in the limited rev range (sub 5000) I have used so far.
Its fair to say the built in tech is amazing as is the interior fit and finish. The only things I reckon they have missed on the R is powered tailgate, heads up display and some USB outlets in the rear (if you don't count the missing overhead sunglasses cubby because of sunroof).
Edit: Every light inside the R is LED.....except the glovebox one - it must be a stocky fitment for the poverty models. So I fixed that today, took a bit of messing about to get the metal shell off the clear front but it was a simple festoon inside.
Need to spend today reading the manual, fiddling the options and choosing an Individual profile. Might get into VCDS to tweak a few little things but I think I will live with it first and see what annoys. The soundaktor may get turned down but you can control it to a degree through the settings I believe?
Just bought a Golf R Special Edition in Tumeric Yellow with the Sunroof. Pick it up this week. After 10 years in a BMW, I'm really looking forward to driving the R Car.

Congrats! You won't be disappointed!
I have the same spec and colour and love it! Also love the colour as photos just don't do it justice!
(Also assuming only 100 in each colour and 50/50 split with roof and without so the TY colour with roof is 1 of 50)
