The R-Line really does look good, I've seen the same white one a couple of times on the way to work recently.

      • Hi All,

New to the forum. I ordered my MY16 Golf R in Lapiz Blue today. Leather (standard now), DSG and Assistance Package - no sunroof. $57,500 drive away which i thought was a decent price!

Apparently i'm looking at around 10th of January for delivery - can't wait!

Delivery in January in Lapiz Blue is pretty good. I was told April/May for that colour in a manual. I opted for a black white one that is on a boat right now.

Paid for it on Saturday, should get it in a couple of weeks. Paid $54,721 with roof racks, bicycle carrier and window tint.

            • She's here, finally. It seemed like the wait would go on forever, but now it's a reality.

I've got to say, really surprised that the dealer has told me I'd need to pay $450 just to activate voice control. My $30k 5-year-old lancer has it as standard, but it's a surprise cost option on this?! Not impressed.

Other than that, I can't fault the thing. It's everything I wanted.

Congrats on the car. In regards to the voice control, I'd just use the voice control that comes with whatever app connect device you use.

That is of course if you use an Android of Apple phone.

                • Thanks. Yeah, I've been using CarPlay, but because it uses Siri, it seems to depend on having a 3G/4G signal.

                  • After six years of great service from my Golf VI 103 TDI I have decided to move on, it will stay in the family. After a lot of patience I have ordered a Wolfsburg R kind of looking forward to the step up to the latest technology in the R should be a cracker and get in before all new cars will be controlled by Google idrive. I had a drive of the R and GTI performance at the VW driver experience at Eastern Creek so kind of new it was only a matter of time before heading to a dealer again. Just as an aside I ordered the car was told two weeks delivery, after one week I checked with the dealer they said there was a mix up they gave me the build number and it has just left Belgium onto SA then OZ probably arrive by Christmas. For the R I don't mind waiting, anyone else had this experience.

                    • Update on my R, they've found one that just came off a boat with my specs. Confirmed delivery date of 25 November (ie. 11 days!) instead of mid-Jan! Stoked!

Great news. My R arrived at the dealer on Friday and should be ready for me on Wednesday/Thursday.

                        • Hey all,
First, a little background. I was a regular on these forums a bit over three years ago. Back then I owned a Mk. IV Golf GTI. Even in its day it wasn't a particularly exciting car, but I loved it. A week after my son was born I was parked outside RNS hospital, waiting for the call that all was ready for collection to go home. Not to be. A p-plater fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into my Golf. Of all the cars to hit! Anyways, the 323 Astina that hit me was pretty much turned inside out, while my Golf was shortened a bit. Apart from the smashed rim the damage didn't look that bad, but the drivers side doors were both jammed, and alas she was written off. I couldn't bring myself to buy another Mk. IV and start again, so we went with a Honda Accord Euro.
Now we find ourselves in a position to buy a new car and I was settling on a 110 Highline with the R-line package. My wife however, perhaps sensing that I would never be satisfied with that, found a demo MY15 GTI with under 1800k's on the clock at a good price. We got a very good deal and put down the deposit today. Not my first choice of colour but beggars can't be choosers, right?

                          • Awesome. My Tiguan is that Night Blue colour and it's really nice. I ended up with a white R even though it wasn't my first colour choice.

You'll love driving it all the same!

                            • Oddly enough, white would be my first choice. Maybe we should swap my new GTI for your new R? That way we can both be happy.
