Confusion abound. Thanks very much for your help agentthumb, I am now armed with more confidence to ask the dealer to do his research.

      • What's a good price for a 2015 Golf 90tsi Comfortline (auto)? Been for a test drive, haven't started talking prices yet. Is 27k drive away price get-able (no extras)? Anyone got any advise?

        • Golf 90tsi Comfortline prices

Hi, I'm interested in purchasing a Golf 90tsi Comfortline (dsg auto), just after some advice on a good price? Has anyone recently bought one? Do you think I can land one for $27k drive away (no add ons) ..

          • Just curious if there have been any whispers on my16 specifications yet? Isn't the change mid year-ish?

Nothing yet that I've heard. New model year builds usually commence around build week 25.

You could probably get that on a 2014 build demo but not as likely a new 2015.

                • Just put a deposit down on a 90TSI DSG Comfortline with DAPII. Originally had my heart set on the Polo 81TSI but the Golf drove better and every review I've read has fantastic things to say about the Golf. Can't wait

I need help deciding whether the paint protection is worth it, didn't completely buy the sales spiel since I'm sure they push it since they make a nice profit on it. Seems steep at $1900. What do you guys think?

                  • That's an outrageous price for paint protection. Do it aftermarket for a quarter of that price.

                    • Isn't paint protection a racket? I thought all that is needed is a good wax every few months?

                      • If I can get it done aftermarket for a quarter of the price, I'll do that. $1900 is just insane, I could almost go to the next model up in car for that

I'm getting mine done here next week....

Still pricey, but it's something I like to do with a new car. Though, I haven't tried this $700 detail (last time I went, they had a more basic service for ~$200 iirc).

I use their car washing/waxing products too, which I can recommend.

                          • $1900 is utter extortion. You should be able to get the best quality paint protection (ceramic coats, etc) for around $700, less in some areas like SA

                            • Great, thanks so much for the info. I suspected it was just a high profit add-on they hope to get people with on the spot. It's a stupid amount of money for what it is.

I did tell them a few days ago I wasn't looking to get it but they were insistent it was worth it. If I can get essentially the same thing done for sub $900, I'd be happy with that. Can't wait to get the car I'm sure I'll have heaps of questions once it's delivered to me

                              • I'd seen what my wife's Tiguan cost for the paint / rust & tint package as part of her novated lease (approx $1100) - when it came to buy my Golf I simply said the the 'accessory sales girl' that I knew how much my wife had paid and unless they could do better (as the Golf is a smaller car) then I wasn't interested... Took me repeating that a few times and she decided to give up on the idea...
