Negotiating a Golf 90tsi auto in NSW

Hi there,

Looking at buying either a golf (90tsi automatic) or a polo (comfortline automatic) as my first car (new or demo). Im in Sydney and probably going to start negotiations in about two weeks.

The Golf is priced at $26 000 with the black paint that I want. I am hoping to negotiate it down to $23 500.
Has anyone had any luck getting it down to that or anywhere close to that figure?

And does anyone have any bargaining tactics or dealership recommendations for NSW?

If I cant get the price I want I will look at a polo.

At the time of ordering 103 TSI drive away price was $36500 I think without any options in December 2014. I asked dealer clearly incase if the drive away price goes down in March at the time of delivery would you reduce the price. They said yes. And they put in contract "if the car price were to be changed due to sale or price reduction then correct price to be passed onto customer".
Now the drive away price came down to 33990 without any options.

My question is would I be able to get a reduction in price now?[emoji15]

Update from dealer: $577 total discount will be applied, which brings the final price to $39413 drive away. I was hoping more but not interested to prolong it anymore. Hope others could use this information when they are opting same options as me.

Ordered a 103tsi highline wagon in limestone grey with DAP2 and headlight cover. $36480.00 drive away incl 12 month rego. Pushed them pretty hard.

Hey guys -

Finally getting close to delivery of my car (posted here) from ordering it the second week of Feb.

Managed to get a 2015 build Highline with Limestone Grey, Leather Trim, Sunroof, Bi-Xenon Headlights, Driver Assist II (2015 - one of the first delivered in Aus), OEM Towbar, NSW Euro Plates all for $41100, Better than my corporate rate! Very excited for my purchase to become 'physical' when its delivered.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to this thread and its posters - makes the whole purchasing process a lot easier when you know what prices to target for options!

How exciting! Mine's on the Morning Composer, just left Melbourne due for Port Kembla tomorrow night. I anticipate the delivery before easter (<3 weeks) but am wary that the dealer contracted date of delivery is April 15th. Not sure how he figured out that date but when I signed the ship was due in for the 21st. Not complaining!

Keep me posted when you get yours so I can ask my dealer for an update!

Yeah mine in Titania, when tracked with VIN status now is discharged as of 12th March. Dealer said 10 days for quarantine, customs etc etc. Fingers crossed on rear cross traffic alert. I was confirmed many times at time of delivery that DAP2 comes with blind spot and rear cross traffic alert.

It's only 10 more days may be to find out. This is the first thing I am going to check as soon as I get the car

I don't want to get your hopes up but I think you'll get the DAP2. Why? It's supposed to be from week 3 of 2015 and your car would've been built on or after that if it's on that ship.

The dealer assures me mine has it, and it was built on week 3 itself and is coming from a lot further away than yours (Germany vs South Africa?) but is still on the same ship as yours

I have had a look through various forums and other websites as well as the VW australian website and haven't been able to get any clarity on the spec/package options. Can anyone confirm the DAP2 is now available for the Wagon, and is the Luxury Package still available (Leather, Sunroof, Bi-xenon headlights)? The downloadable brochure from VW only lists DAP and R Line as a package options, and the vw car dealer I have been speaking to said the Luxury Package only existed for MK6 (not what the VW website shows!). Thanks for your help in advance.
