  • Mk7 Golf GTD gets 135kW

I actually prefer the look of the GTD to the GTI, for some reason, although still not a fan of the painted lower grille.

very nice. I'd be all over it if it had a bit more power.
re: the grill - a dark grey/black makes it look better I think.

The dark color hides the strakes on the front.

That picture actually looks quite good - and once again I think the GTD might have scored a better looking 'stock' wheel than the GTI.

I think the GTD has always looked better than the GTI especially in terms of compatibility with colours. The traditional red stripe looks 'ok' on some colours, but the real understated chrome strip of the GTD works well everywhere. Granted some may consider this boring. One thing though, I would have hoped the rear valance would be a bit different and not the same as a regular mk7.

Here's hoping they have a dark greyish GTI on offer (like the mk6) and an easy way to turn that red line into a chrome one.

Definitely. Both old and new GTD's wheels look better than the GTI's IMO.

Looks nice, hopefully there's an option for no tartan cloth seats.

Probably leather seats or something would be my guess.

I thought VW may have given the GTD something like 145kw. I remember seeing the 123D - although I know is probably way more expensive than the mk7 GTD - but it had like 150kw or somthing like that anyway and 7 sec 0-100km/h.

Obviously leather, but I was referring to a standard cloth trim. Tartan doesn't appeal to everyone and it's more of a GTI only thing, not GTD.

I didn't think the tartan minus red add grey/silver looked to bad in the GTD, particularly given the sportier nature of the seats. To me that's part of the reason of picking up the GTD over just a TDI model.

Definitely a good looker there. But suits the dark colour, not sure how would look on lighter colours

Does this mean a mkVI 125 GTD can be tuned to 135? Or is it a diff engine etc?

It's definitely a different engine, but that doesn't mean you can't tune the MK6 GTD. Most tunes seem to go to 150kW.

A tuned GTD would be a great sleeper, if the stock GTD isn't already. I enjoyed the test drive I had in one.. sounded great and the economy even on a spirited blast in the hills was crazy good.
