Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

FE comes with Dynaudio and the nappa leather.. no idea whether SE was the same.

$52k seems pricey.. with the current differential I'd go the FE for the new car and five years warranty - again no idea if the SE cars slotted into that window. I'm a bit out of date.

If I could get the SE down some more then I'd be swayed.
He’s got a deposit paid on the SE for 50k, which seems like a good deal... 11 months rego too

I did consider waiting for the Mk8 Golf R but needed a car by the end of the year.
Also after watching many videos on the new Golf's infotainment system and the lack of buttons, I was turned off.

In the end I pulled the trigger on a MY20 Golf R Wagon for $56K DA.
Didn't go for the Sunroof/Dynaudio as wife was not keen on it and not happy to stretch another 2.5k.
I'm hoping no-one is going to say they got a fully loaded Golf R wagon for less than 58k DA.
      Congratulations.

Yeah, can’t say I’ve come across too many people who are wrapt about everything being done via screen. Guarantee there will be gremlins for a while as well. A 7.5 should be issue free generally.

      Happy days.

I’m still very undecided what I’ll do next.

      • Hey, slightly off topic, anybody any idea where I can get the Racingline Foam Panel filter from. My usual supplier is out of stock. Mine has now done 120000klms so time for a fresh one.

          • There is pretty much zero stock in Australia for Racingline parts at present. I ended up getting the usual parts (filter, inlet hose, muffler delete, turbo inlet) from eBay - there are a couple of UK sellers with good prices and reasonable shipping times.

I bought my replacement R600 filter from Haz Motorsports in the UK. They have an Ebay store but you're best off buying from their UK website direct and not getting slugged tax (if you're outside the UK it calculates without VAT). Site: Haz Motorsport

I did notice that their R600 cotton filter was out of stock though....

                        Gotta start with a 5..

If it’s 62k driveaway new still too much I would have thought 56-57k for the new one is more appealing😉

Well for a regular Golf R yes. But it's the old Supply vs Demand story. It depends on how much of a premium people are prepared to pay for the Final edition.

If a dealer knows he has the only one in the country in a particular colour, he has a lot more bargaining power... he might just hang on to it until he gets the price he wants.

                            • I'd think supply outstrips demand right now.

Unless someone simply must have a particular combination and they are happy to pay overs on it then I'd still be aiming for something around $56k and shopping around.

There's nothing in the Final Edition that means it should be priced differently - a collectors model it ain't. But the last batch of Rs (FE or not) do represent a final opportunity for an R purchase for the foreseeable future that you can rely on.

                              • Looking at a 2018 MY19 Golf R Wagon, 12k Kms. Priced at $47k, has extended warranty. What are thoughts on price? Better to buy new? Has anything been updated or changed since?
