  • No rattles on my R Grid. Major issue for me is lack of pops and crackles/no to minimal DSG fart on sports upshift. Wondering if my exhaust flaps are not functioning properly or there's an issue with the ECU tune? Can others with 7.5 R's feedback with their exhaust sounds?

How many kms has it covered?

      • I've racked up 5,000km so plenty of time for everything to bed in/exhaust to develop some extra tone.

True... I hear the pops and burps with windows down and sport/manual in a built up city environment.
Out in the country the sound track is almost inexistent even on a WOT pull. Could you get a mate to drive by your car as you look on from the road? Or strap the go pro on the rear above the zorst. As for the valves being stuck , could be... there is a definite tone change in my car spot in the underground garage if I shift through the modes, takes a few seconds to actuate the valve. Tell tale sign will be carbon build up on the silver oval tips in race mode and a few good launches. Hope this info helps.

There has been some talk on this thread about the ECU requiring a switch out of and back to either Race or Individual with Race sound on each engine restart. I think mine is OK in Individual from start to start, but others swear blind you need to switch back and forth each time for lots of nice bloke music. I remember the EPA rules about drive-by noise levels included something about default start up modes, so that may explain a need to require intervention each time.

            • ^ Thanks Steve, was aware of the ?need to cycle through modes each time, I definitely get the ++soundakator in Race mode but flatulence is sadly lacking. Wonder if a res delete might help get the job done?

Had the same issue with back seat drove me nuts thought it was suspension , turns out its the seat locks they rattle , use some insulation tape on the hoops not too much as it can make it hard to push down seat , it will do the fix , all quiet now

Yep - another contentious topic. Coming from the drainpipe-exhaust crowd in my youth I'm a bit underwhelmed with my res-delete. But if you've not had a noisy car yet, and your expectations are suitably low, you may very well be impressed.

Brilliant suggestion, thank you. Might hit up the dealer next one I’m there, get it done under warranty.

                      • I rarely drive mine in race as the steering is too heavy and is only good in the twisties up glorious but noticed when you put it in race the windows rattle and the rest if the car starts buzzing heaps. Is it hard to disconnect the soundaktor?

Also a lack of mute button? Is there one ? For the life of me I can't find it, seems a massive over sight if there isn't.

The power button is the mute button - single press for mute/un-mute - long press for power off.

Ok cool I'll give it a try. Should be on the steering wheel but that'll do

                              • The voice control button on the wheel acts as a mute button.
