So my dealer (Who has been excellent to work with) has swapped the Golf R i first ordered for a MY18.5 Golf R White Silver DSG with DAP and Dynaudio.
She said it should be here on the 3rd of April.
I think the little bit extra wait time is totally worth it, Was originally going to be here by the end of this month.
Probably same reason the R doesn’t get a boot floor that can be placed down a further level like a GTI or regular golf can.
I can set the boot floor in my Mk7.5 MY18 R wagon to two different levels. I have it set to the lower height to give me more room, but if I wanted to store stuff above the spare tyre but below the floor I could set it at the higher level. I don't know if the R hatch is similar.
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Mm must be a hatch only issue then. I guess the question is do the wagon Rs get park assist?

Who wants park assist? I'd rather not have a kerbed wheel when it screws up.. I had it on other rides and it only ever gets used once - when the dealer wants to show it off.
I'm not sure if there is a definitive answer on why the R doesn't carry it but it worldwide - and it ranges from the motor used to turn the steering wheel not being compatible with the R, to the supposed ride height of the R being too low to have the sensors work properly.

Im with Dutch77, we have it on our current golf, and it is the very first thing the novelty wears off on. Dont need it and am 100% ok with it not being available on my new R.
Exactly, I don't need assistance kerbing my wheels, I can do it myself.
LOL.
I'm surprised any manufacturer offers it here anyway rather than delete it and bank a few hundred in profit - Australians are surely world leaders in parallel parking given the average driving test devotes critical time to this act instead of boring irrelevant stuff like emergency braking.

Anyways I believe in Germany and other countries overseas the R gets Part Assist as an option, I believe I saw a YouTube video on it, but I could be wrong.
So prob just VW Australia not allowing it as an option

Yep pretty sure I've seen it overseas.
Had it on my GTI too and worked well every time. So helpful in inner city Melb.
Does anyone know why the R with DAP doesn’t get park assist?

For whatever reason, maybe something involved with the extra grunt of the R, we all know the turning circle of our cars resembles that of an interurban double decker. So, the turning lock required for one-go reverse park is simply not there. But I agree with all here - kerb rashes by one's own hand much more "satisfying" than those from automaton. I learn you good, grasshoppers !
Re - Dynaudio option now available for the standard R ... ... ... FML. But I have to say, my compact, 8 inch, $600 combined amp/sub installed today by Monster on the back of my rear left seat has made a world of difference. Maybe I'm not an audiophile after all.
Re - what's with the sudden passion for VW's laser cut wheels ... Joe Average (a.k.a. me) hasn't got the foggiest of the difference between Pret's and Spielbergs, other than appearance. I had no idea the Spielberg's were heavier, but would highly doubt I'd ever feel the difference with the seat of my ole' ass. I just need my huge, pothole crashing 19s to stand out, because I'm driving a wolf in sheep's clothing.
