Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I find with my MK5 GTI if you change to a gear the DSG was not anticipating can take up to 2 secs to change which ****s me no end (don't recall this being an issue when car was new, maybe an issue with an 11 year old car!).
I presume movies only play on screen when car is stationary?
Got my resonator pulled out the other week. When the guy showed me the straight thru path it had I didn't have much confidence it'd make much difference. But I can now hear a "puffing" at idle and "gurgle" at low engine speeds with the windows down, and maybe the gear change blats seem a little more obvious. But definitely no drone if anyone's worried about that.Last edited by SteveMc; 23-11-2017, 07:39 AM.2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete

How much louder is the car with resonator delete? I would like to hear a bit more off-throttle burble from the new exhaust (bit too faint for my liking but have heard this gets more pronounced over time), but concerned also don't want to go much louder than what it currently is.

Anyway, search Youtube for "Z4me resonator delete" for a good review of the mod. I agree it'll pass the "will the wife notice it" test - mine won't notice a thing.2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete

Impressive numbers/difference and these are figures at the hub (engine hp/torque even higher).

Very impressive torque figure for the 7.5, but I wonder whether the manual g'box std clutch's will be able to cope with that much torque (given the 7.0 clutch sometimes couldn't cope with the std 380Nm)2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Why would you want a manual the dq381 is 200% better than the dq250 it replaces i know i went from the 6 speed to the 7(in diesels i will admit lol) night and day difference to me i could see why you would want a manual in place of the dq250 but the new 7 speed box is really really good and can handle 520nm!
I have spoken to a tuner who thinks it will cope with 700nm!2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options

I think the issue with the Golf R (7.0 and 7.5) is the slow response to the initial movement of the accelerator ( which is why the throttle pedal box is a very popular mod in the UK). Even my diesel van feels more responsive to the first little push on the accelerator.
The new 7-speed DSG was good and much better than previous DSG cars but I’d still take a manual any day of the week.
