2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete
2008 - Mazda 2 - (Maybe my first child scared me a bit) -1998 - Wrx (modded up to but not including forged pistons)
1988 - Corolla TwinCam - (couldn't insure a 323 Turbo)
1967 - Tonka Tip Truck - Red with 2 inch plastic rims and a massive sand scoop.
Hi, could anyone on our Forum have some information as to the latest 2017 APR DSG software updates, Im told there has, just recently. Anyone! Thanks G.T.
For those of you interested in The Great Dynaudio Delete Debacle of 2017, here's an interchange between myself and VW Customer Assist today. FYI, their email is vwassist@volkswagen.com.au The more mail they get, the bigger chance they'll actually realise they've made a mistake..
.................................................. .................................................. ................. Hi Oge ... thanks for your reply to my correspondence. However, does replying with a statement of what I already know constitute a considered and "customer assisting" response ? In order to placate it's many, future, unhappy Golf R customers, the company should attempt to explain a retail situation where customers are willing to pay for a product, but a vendor will not supply it.
Obviously, Volkswagen can decide on and offer any options it likes in it's vehicles. The point of my letter was to discuss the untenable situation of offering an extra on all vehicles in a range, including base models, except for the most expensive, production version. How does a customer paying double the price of a base model comprehend not even being offered the same option available to that vehicle ? And does VW really expect it's customers to believe the Dynaudio option will be still be unavailable on the Golf R once the Wolfsburgh version has sold out ? The fact you've got multiple VW dealers now asking you the same question so early in a model's life should sound warning bells somewhere there in the office. It's being referred to in the VWwatercooled forum as "The Great Dynaudio Delete Debacle of 2017". Those of us with Golf Rs purchased whilst the Wolfsburgh was officially still in production will have vehicles referred to as the "Denied Generation".
Thank you for your continued to patience in this matter.
The Fender premium audio system has only ever been offered as an option for the Golf R in North America.
Our special and limited release edition Golf R Wolfsburg Edition exclusively features the Dynaudio 400w premium audio system.
However our Golf R series model comes with the driver assistance package which is not equipped with the premium audio system.
Please do not hesitate to contact 1800 607 822 if you have any further queries.

Sounds very misleading that response.?the reference to the dynaudio being "exclusively available" in the Wolfsburg models suggests it will not actually be available in the lesser grades of Golf. Which all dealer info suggests will be an option in everything except Golf R.
It does seem like a very strange spec decision for the R. Maybe having it places it too close to the S3. Need to have some reason to pay much more $$ for essentially the same car. Even more so with the 7 speed DSG now in the Golf R...
Have they got their work experience people writing their reply letters?
That doesn't really seem to address your points at all.
Looks for all money like "Oge" is actually a bot.
Regardless, the VW Customer Assist department must have a very big belief in the product as it is. I doubt any of us will cancel our order over the issue, partially proving them correct, unfortunately.

I did. I cancelled my pre-order the day it was announced. Been contemplating the Wolfsburg but according to my dealer the pricing hasn't been announced through their official channel yet, and as such they wont negotiate. I have waited since the mkvi for dynaudio to return, what's another 5 years? :p
I agree with you SteveMc - I'm not really seriously looking at anything else for my next car (considered the S3 briefly, but think the interior is a bit overated).
There's just not really anything else (imo) in the Golf R price bracket that ticks all the boxes that it does.
Still, it does seem like an odd approach to take for VW.

Agreed. Still best bang for buck family friendly performance vehicle available. Although next time around for me, I might be looking seriously closely at an RS3 sedan...
