  • In the last week I have started to have an annoying rattle sound on light acceleration from engine area. I am pretty sure it's the soundaktor because when I switch modes from normal to Eco it goes away and if i switch back it returns. Is this a common issue?

Bit disappointed as this is the second annoying rattle I've had in car in under 6 months.

    • Correct - drive train loss is all relative (look at big trucks).

Weight is another factor - the DQ500 weights a good chunk more than the DQ250 which is considerably heavier than the DQ200.

      • For those with the Stage 1 APR Tune, is your Start-Stop still working? Mine hasn't worked since getting the tune done, not sure if related just timing-wise coincidental.

I have disabled it now via VCDS but just curious if it is just me.

        • I'll have to test it out. I now got used to switching it off every time I get in the car so haven't noticed it.

Thanks mate, the status I get is "Engine must be running".

            • My stop start still working after APR tune. I had my soundaktor switched off today so hopefully no more rattle.
Regarding soundaktor off car is quieter but not dramatic difference in normal mode.
I test drove car with APR intake and tune today, sound not much louder than stock IMO and didn't notice much more response but only had very short drive.
I'm thinking if/when I get intake will look at vwr cup edition as I would like to hear the turbo induction and DV more. That's just my opinion but thought would share. There is youtube video of it on mk7 gti and sounds quite good.

                Rattle from soundaktor?

I got the APR intake done prior to the tune. I personally was able to definitely notice more induction and post tune, boost increases I assume, I can hear it more than ever. While not trying to steer you away from the VWR intake, the design does not look internally as efficient as the APR one.

Yeah I tested my "start stop" this morning and all working fine. (Just to clarify I have APR stage 1 tune)

                  • Jonoz, thanks for your reply. Post tune can definitely hear turbo more than before. I just didn't notice any real noticeable difference driving a car with APR intake too. I highly doubt there will be much difference in performance so personally I want more turbo sound, hence the VWR cup edition my personal preference. I have no doubt the APR is well engineered and looks great also but my tuner has dyno all 3 and all pretty much exactly same performance benefit.
Regarding rattle from soundaktor that's just my assumption as I researched previous causes to similiar rattle sound and when I turned car from normal to Eco the rattle stopped immediately. I tested this number of times so pretty confident that was the cause.
I'm very happy with cars performance with tune, I just want bit more turbo sound and slightly better response.
Main thing that still annoys me is the DSG racing through gears in normal mode to be fuel efficient and race mode WAY over top so never use it. Will wait 6 months and once 1st service done will get DSG and intake.

I see, have you considered the Injen intake? I would hedge a bet it would give the most induction noise out of all the intakes and is a lot cheaper than the rest.

Hi mp2811, you should try DTUK Pedal box for better response. I have heard a lot of good things about it from the UK forum and am tempted to try it myself but will probably wait for awhile before buying it.
