Apparently, stock is 17.4psi and guesses are out that the tune will most likely be around the 26psi range to match the A45 AMG.

      • Oh so my brand new mechanical boost gauge and apr boost tap must be faulty

New subaru sti run 17.4 psi in a 2.5 litre and the golf is faster down the 1/4 so it has to be higher than 18 psi

        • Just a few tweaks on my R.... I'm trying to not let the mod bug bite like my last car did. Not sure how long I can hold off.

I removed the 19" wheels (not a fan) and replaced them with 18x7.5" motorsport wheels. I got them for a great price ($300 each) as part of the deal with my new car. I got my favourite tyre (Pirelli P-Zeros, 225x40R18's) for a great price as well, so no complaints here.

Quite surprisingly the standard 19" wheels/tyres offer a very refined ride. Going "down" to 18's didn't make a huge difference in ride/sound quality to be honest (maybe it will at speed), but I far prefer the look - plus I can preserve the 19" wheels in 'new' condition in case of gutter rash etc..

What do you guys reckon? It's borderline needing some very small wheel spacers (10-12mm).. Not sure yet.. The 7.5" wheels are obviously a bit skinnier, so even though they have the same offset they don't fit quite as flush as the 8" wheels did.

I also put on some eyelids. I dunno there's a bit of ricer in all of us... I like the look - not too overboard.

I wonder if this is the beginning or the end of the mod bug...

          • I got APR tune done today and car is now super fast. The mid range torque is amazing, It throws you back in seat from 2700 rpm. I thought before performance was bit lacking but not anymore! Turbo sound is greatly enhanced too which is nice.

Good man.. I'm going to wait a little while until I know the tune is safe. Also a bit worried about all these turbo failures.

Enjoy it, and watch those demerit points!!

                Awesome. Thanks for posting.

Would be good if they had an extended version where they spent more time on each car!

But fck me - the way they introduce/review the Ferrari is crazy! Absolutely love it and want one

                • Considering guy has done hundreds of dyno runs on there own golf R over a year of development im pretty confident that its safe lol.

Also 'all these turbo failures' theres only been a handful worldwide. And only one reported out of all that have come to Aus.

Call me mr conservative.. I do think it's a few more than just a handful though... Half a dozen turbo revisions in under a year us a real concern.

Anyway we shall see in time!

                      • According to tuning companies here in Aus. Dont believe the Detuned crap. When tested such as at APR the Aus R they had there which matched mine was dynoed and had the 221KW standard tune.

Believe or dont believe but food for thought.
I know mine got up to 19 stock now around the high 19, low 20

21 psi, apr intake only - YouTube

Video was shot with phone. boost gauge goes up in increments of 5psi to 30 psi.

Am I understanding you correctly? They dyno'd a oz spec car, with an oz spec '206kw' engine map, and an oz spec car with an EU '221kw' engine map flashed onto it (or perhaps an EU spec car in Europe on the same brand of dyno?) and both cars generated the same power at the wheels/hubs?

                            Comment

                            • As in yes. An Aus spec one dynoed in Brisbane made exactly the same as one in Germany, 221kw. The ECU numbers are identical apparently etc.
You will actually see it on APR R tune that they just released as well. Where the numbers are, it say official figures stated by factory 206kw ...figures actually on the dyno 'stock' 221kw.

Like i said before, believe it if you want but i have seen proof so i know its true. Although it makes very minimal performance difference anyway.

                              • It sounds like you're saying that an Australian spec was tested and gave a figure more like the Euro numbers on their spec sheets.

If the Aus car and a Euro car weren't tested on the same dyno the number is meaningless. Dynos all read quite differently - they are famously inaccurate - and are only useful in seeing the gains made before and after a mod or by testing two cars on the one machine to compare

Id bet a euro car on that dyno would show ~235kw
