Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread
Just thought its worth a watch for those who are interested in changing the exhaust. Shows the difference between a resonated and the non resonated milltek exhaust

Absolutely love the cracks from the non-resonated, sounds like what Soundaktor was trying to do.

Agree. The non resonated version is my 2nd choice after Fi exhaust, who are developing theres as we speak, as they said they would give me a good discount for being the first owner in Aus. Fingers crossed it sounds as good as there previous systems and you would hope so as they are an exotic car exhaust manufacturer.

Hi 7R owners,
As a recently new member to the Golf R owners club, was wondering if anyone else has experienced the following and whether its just the character of the car.
1. Sounds of thuds and cracks when reversing? Sometimes when i reverse I hear in the back some weird mechanical sounds. It doesnt sound classy for a flagship model.
2. Violent jolts when changing gears from 1st to second 2nd in manual mode (dsg) My Mk6 gti never did this.
Thanks everyone... here is a pic too of her. I haven't seen any Tornado Red ones yet.

Speaking of getting on to the issues, mine does that vibrating thing in the dash/engine bay at light acceleration btn 1500 and 2000rpm. I heard of this before on another post. Anyone know what it could be?
It's probably better to have an idea what it could be before seeing my dealer, and being told the old "it's normal" spiel!

That vibration is the sound actuator, i was going to get mine checked but it ended up going away by itself.
Exhaust for VW's sound alpt better in person then on the internet. Try headphones for a slightly better sound

Yep, its a bit hard to get the "real" exhaust notes out on a Youtube Video. Our test car has been resonated for about a month & yesterday we switched in the NON resonated section.
The big difference is the "Rasp" of the note. Last nights highway testing showed no "drone" between 90 & 110kmph cruising speed. The full resonated one is more mature and won't wake up the neighbours as much. Cold start in the morning there is a big difference

Hmmm I get what feels like slip changing from 1st to 2nd (DSG) also when in Eco mode but in Normal and Race or just having the shirt program in Sports it is fine.
Edit: Also what is with the blurring of the number plates? Is it some legal thing about being called out on mods or paranoia about someone doing something with your number plate that is visible to every motorist on the road?Last edited by jonoz; 27-11-2014, 11:36 AM.
