Hi guys,
I just had a test drive of R and wow!! Awesome car! I just have one concern and would be great if owners of R can give some input. I love the exhaust but I drive a lot and just wondering if the noise is bit too much after a while? Is it easy to live with day to day if you drive around 30k a year?? Can the sound actuator be disabled to make it little quieter? I don't mind the noise but mrs felt its bit too much. I know there is a GTI but I want the extra power and AWD.

Yup. Eco mode on cruise on long drives - almost silent.
I've done over 5000km on mine so far and no drone issues.

Agree with DrK, I'm 2.5k km's in and I also switch to Eco mode on long drives: it's nice and quiet, no drone (stark comparison to Race mode when jumping on a freeway which is a blast!).

Andrew, I recall you reset your Soundaktor to 60% of maximum. Does this still provide sufficient noise in "Race" mode? Does "Eco" mode effectively disable the Soundaktor, or at least minimise its effects. If yes, does this mean it's not really necessary to use VCDS to reduce the noise from the standard 100% setting?
^ went with 75% soundakator in the end Mikey which still provides a nice growl when you floor it in Normal mode and very much a nice angry snarl in Race (reduced volume reduces drone on change down to lights I find). True though Eco mode quietens things down very much so and softens all settings, it's my default highway mode or when my wife is allowed to drive the R
I like the eco mode in this car, this mode still good enough to drive fast, doesn't feel as slow as in other cars plus you can put the gear on sport if you need to go faster, only two of the four mufflers work in this mode so less noise.
