Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Ditto. Such a shame. Love the Pretorias. I find the Cadiz wheels too garish. They are putting me off the look of the R, however no way I'll be ponying up coin that could be spent more usefully on an ECU tune.

looks like build week 40 so wont be getting it any time soon.

I was reading the top gear review and they claim the S1 has a de-tuned S3 engine and even mention it has the same turbo :s not sure this can be true as ABT just released a tune for it and it only makes 228Kw with 440Nm ABT Sportsline car configurator

I think the S1 has a similar tune to the GTI

                  • Double posting but, changing my S3 sedan order to an R manual with DA. Wife canned the S3 due to a house reno (our house was previously part of a university so the "living room" is currently 150 sq metres in size. The kids love it!). The Golf was $22,000 cheaper than the Audi...

I've started looking around at stereo up grade options. Looks like there is room under the boot for another stealth box like I have in the Mk6. Will probably need to wait until the Yanks get up and running to see what people are doing. Most of the info I got on the Mk 6 was off the USA forums. I'm aware of the Helix plug n play thing but haven't found any reviews yet.

                      • Hi All,

When I sold my MX5 a while back, I removed the Focal Sub that i had installed into this. Just had a thought the other day (interpret this as I completely forgot I even owned it) and was wondering if I could get this installed into my MK7 R???

Unfortunately as we all know there is no stereo upgrade available on the R for some retarded reason that i won't go into.

But thinking about it, does anyone know if the MK7 R has a sub out on the head unit? Or any other option? Or would we think that the sub would possibly destroy the audio anyway given the acoustic design of the system.

Thought and comments on this would be appreciated

                        Cheers,

                        Blabba

                        • I've been googling this all night. Not much info out there. If it's like the Mk 6 we need to wait for the Yanks to get theirs. Most of the info I got on the Mk 6 was off the USA forums.

The only thing I've found is the Audiotec Fischer Match plug and play setup. Very expensive and you loose your spare tyre.

Uberstealth does custom fitted sub boxes for under the floor. He hasn't got anything for the Mk 7 yet but his boxes fit around the spare under the floor. Then you fit a shallow mount sub and an amp with signal from a clever line out like an LC2i with remote sub control. I can't remember if I ever bothered putting pictures up of my setup.

I suspect some will also want to upgrade and amplify the front speakers which wasn't strictly needed in the Mk6 with Dynaudio but will be in the 7 due to the rubbish power output of the Discover Media head unit.
