Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

RD, my preferred detailer cant get me for in protections/Opticoat until July! (could you PM me who you use? would like to get it done by mid to late June as I've got a few weeks off then and can do without the car for a few days)

Cantgiveyouthat, all I can say is he will be far more straightforward and in all likelihood better on price than Brisbane's usual suspects (who I have had plenty of dealings with). We got corporate which helped but the pricing was great and we weren't tag teamed by the salesman and manager and asked "how much will you pay for the car?" Give him a try.

Hi guys and gals,
Thought I should say hi to this thread given how closely I have watched it for the last few weeks while making my decision on what to buy for my new ride. Finally, after much deliberation, have joined the Golf R crew. Am rather excited and starting to wade through the other forums on what you can really do with these machines.
Am awaiting an exact delivery date, but should be in the next few weeks.
Main thing i wanted to share with you all was how astonished I was regarding the volume of information I learnt here that nearly no sales people i dealt with knew about on the new R. The final guy I dealt with today, didn't even know that the car had a traffic capability, let alone a boot liner.
Anyway, thanks for all your wisdom in this post, hopefully I can add some of my own over time.
Cheers,
Blabba

Congrats Blabba, welcome to the club. Agree this forum is an amazing resource, gets even better as we share info/updates/fixes/mods over the life of our R's
(btw just spied a Red S3 in sunny Bendigo, very very plain looking rig, if it wasnt for the 4 pipes just another generic Audi)

I notice that a lot of people on this forum have placed an order for an R and are receiving them within a few weeks. I too have an order in for an R, standard with no options and I have been told that delivery will be Aug/Sept. When I placed my order I was told that there were some cars available now but all had leather trim plus other options that I did not want meaning that the car had to be ordered hence the waiting time. is anyone else here having to endure a long wait for a standard DSG R?
