Same - I'll be pretty upset too but I doubt a fully loaded R will come in that close. Having said that I'm completely happy with my gti and don't need the extra power

    • A fully loaded MK6 R was close to $70K (over $70 if you had the Recaro seats) when brand new so I doubt you have anything to worry about.
I'd be surprised if the R is available for under $60K with on-road costs. Even then, it would only be an entry level R with no extras.

What is a "fully loaded" GTI? If it means the Performance Pack model, then $55K is probably a fair price, as the R with the lot will be about $65K in Victoria.

$47850 including onroads and Dynaudio for me.

Which means over 2 years and 10 months and 100,000kms I lost around 16k. I reckon that is pretty damn good.

Just had a call from my dealer, they have a car with my specs (grey with all options). Only options available are leather, sunroof and driver assistance package. 19" and keyless start are standard. Expected release is end of April.
She was unsure on pricing but said she expected it to be mid-60's with the options.

              • So Adaptive Chassis Control is standard?

                • I would assume so. It is on the GTI and would want to be with 19s as standard

                  • If its mid $60"s for the R, S3 here I come..

                    • On a rough like-for-like basis, an Audi S3 will be approx $9K more. If this is acceptable, then buy the car with the more prestigous badge!

                        • I've just been sent the spec summary. Of note, 19" Cadiz rims only (no 18" option or the Pretoria style), no Discover Pro (only the 5.8" Discover Media), no Nappa leather, and Tornado Red is now available (along with Pure White, Lapiz Blue, Reflex Silver, Limestone Grey, and Deep Black). The standard trim is a cloth/alcantara mix. Keyless entry (KESSY) is standard, along with the colour MFD (MFD Premium).

The only options are leather, sunroof, and the driver assistance package (consisting of active cruise, front assist, city emergency brake, and proactive occupant protection system). Park Assist 2 is not available on the R.

No information on pricing as of yet.

                          • If I'm going to be forced to take 19s I would want the Pretoria's. Not happy about no 18s.
Not fussed about sunroof or Park Assist 2 - if you can't reverse park a bloody Golf you shouldn't be driving a car!
I'll try the leather before I buy but tempted by the active cruise.
Does the Mk7 have memory seats? I hate it when my wife drives mine. It takes about a week to get the seat back were I like it. If leather has memory I will take it.
Will see what stereo options there are. Looks like aftermarket subwoofer needed again.

It precursors how VW/Audi may charge users for the Pro online infotainment systems when they are eventually available in Australia in the S3 and R.
