On the Audi forums it's also been discovered that there is a Launch Control counter which permanently disables the feature after the count reaches 200. It would be reasonable to assume the same exists for VW.

If you've got DSG + Launch Control + VCDS you can check the counter yourself via 02 Transmission - Advanced Measuring Blocks.

The Mk7 R is in Australia!!

Lapiz Blue 5dr DSG spotted near my place in Cammeray in Sydney. I pulled over and took a million iPhone photos which I'll upload when I'm back at a computer. It is stunning, it's the first bit of doubt I've had about my GTI order.

It had 19s, driver assist, leather and Discover Nav. No idea if this is standard or optional equipment in Australian spec. They must be embargoed with reviews, there's no doubt someone's given it a good thrashing on something other than a frozen Swedish lake now.

Like what Jimi said, the first Mk7 Golf R has hit the shores. I can only assume that it is a review vehicle currently in the hands of a VW Exec.

Is it an VW press car? ie. one that gets driven from one VW dealership to the next, just spending a few hours at each, just like what Audi does, as the S3 was spotted doing the rounds well before the official launch took place.

Probably but considering that vw dealers are doing a training day mid month about the performance pack, i would now assume the R will be there aswell because i dont think they would only drop 1 car off to australia.

On an extra note all the UK guys are allowed to pick up there cars from the dealership today so be prepared for lots more photos and reviews

The number plate is very similar to the ones used for the press GTIs so as someone mentioned I suspect it's in the hands of someone from VW at the moment before being handed over to the press in a few weeks. It must be an exec, a few months ago the same guy had a fully optioned white GTI as well (the first one I saw with bi xenons with the red stripe)

The safest thing to say is that 19 inch is an option (since it also came with leather and driver assist - probable options)
