Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I also like to thank all the guys at Harding Performance and Prestige&Performance for helping my wife with all this, I really liked it and certainly the car will look a lot better when the wheels arrive.
.
IMO lowering is a must if you are changing to aftermarket wheels. Ive also heard mixed reviews of the ride comfort after lowering which has me in two minds. Would appreciate more info.VW Golf R MK7

I have the vmr lowered springs and yes the ride quality is not the same but the look and improved handling in my opinion out ways stiffer ride. I have set the individual acc setting to comfort for suspension and normal for every thing else which I use for normal driving and that certainly smooths out the ride for the daily commuteMk7 Golf R White DSG

My experience so far with the VWR springs has been good I think they are comfortable for a sport suspension, I definitely have had worse than this with other cars with springs, I would say it gets more bouncing yes, but not in a extreme way, off course it would be more stiff than the oem but they still good enough to drive , it all depends on the road I guess , the steering improves a lot and the handling of the car is so much better now, and it was quit good already , I would recommend them if you are thinking in getting them, I wanted to have them when the new set of wheels arrive because I am staying with the same 19" size so in this way the wheels will have an appearance of being bigger with out changing the oem configuration, and they will look sportier as well.Last edited by sergioscirocco; 04-07-2015, 12:41 PM.

Static Cornering Lamps
Shortly after taking delivery of my R in October 2014, I replaced the stock Philips H7 55W bulbs with Philips H7 55W WhiteVision bulbs (Made in Germany), and couldn't be happier with the result. The mismatch of the light colour between the stock H7 bulbs with the Bi-Xenon bulbs couldn't be more obvious. Admittedly, there is still a colour difference, which I could have eliminated if I had chosen the Philips CrystalVision bulbs, but there are some technical shortcomings with this bulb (such as reduced intensity), so I stuck with the WhiteVision.
Technical Specifications
Philips H7 55W WhiteVision
Colour temperature: 4100K
Lumens: 1500 lm
Lifetime: B3/Tc = 200/450 hours
Philips H7 55W CrystalVision
Colour temperature: 4300K
Lumens: 1140 lm
Lifetime: B3/Tc = 200/400 hours
After-market globes can be expensive, and their life expectancy lower than stock/standard globes, so it pays to shop around. I purchased mine from Blingwork Automotive Lighting in Clayton VIC. They also have a website for purchasing on-line (Blingwork Automotive Lighting). However, I purchased directly from them, as I could test different bulbs in a controlled environment, where their warehouse has a white wall, ideal for making comparisons. They are expert fitters as well.
Ask for Joe Kwong or Howe Li, who are great guys to deal with.Last edited by Mikey1; 04-07-2015, 03:34 PM.

Therefore, it's up to the individual to decide on what they are trying to achieve and what their priorities are. Clearly, these priorities need to be improved look with a lowered stance and the car sitting flatter during spirited cornering. You say the steering improves, but I can't see how the same 20mm reduction in ride height, front and rear would affect this. No matter, as long as it's no worse.

What is the general consensus on the best value/quality downpipe kit for the R? A lot are shipped internationally so I am wondering if some are actually found locally and are more cost effective.
I dont want to pay an arm and a let but I also dont want a piece of junk.
Any feedback would be great.
