Lets just say, as well as alot of other stuff he has done to his R once he got it back, that new rims was his first upgrade as it would be mine if that happened
Is it normal for the R to emit a high-pitched noise when you use the keyless entry?
For example, the key is in my pocket, place my hand on the door handle and the car unlocks and emits this high-pitched buzz almost. Is it just supposed to be audibly letting you know the car is unlocked?
If its anything like the Mk6 its the high pressure fuel pump priming.
Really need to turn off the satnav warning message every time I turn it on, if anything its more distracting that actually watching the navigation and the ability to attenuate the radio/media sound during spoken navigation would be awesome!
Has anyone's turbo blown up on the golf R yet? I have seen numerous articles there is problems with the turbos in the R and S3 - I also heard VW is on the brink of recalling all of the Golf Rs to replace the turbos...
I called up vw About a month ago now to get mine done and they said there was no info on them and only audi has been given the go ahead within oz due to the sheer amount of turbos they will have to get in stock to replace them all. As soon as one person gets a recall letter, it will be spoken of on here

Highly doubt it. It has been traced on the golf R to a certain revision number of the turbo (i think there into double figures allready since release) which have the build date of around March this year. If you search on the rforum.co.uk there is a load of information regarding any concerns you might have and europe has only had a handful of faulty R turbos(not saying it doesnt exist on others with the same engine i.e s3, cupra though).

So I was checking car sales and I can see that the new S3 came with the 210kw that everyone was talking about, also with the 19" pretorias wheels, I also checked the golf R and the engine still the same 206kw any one knows if in fact there will be changes in the engine of the Golf R?

Phoned VW prior to purchasing my MY15 and can confirm still 206kW.
Golf R addiction, also known as “compulsive R-ing, is a type of impulse-control disorder. Compulsive R-ers can’t control the impulse to own and/or drive a Golf R, even when they know their obsession is hurting themselves or their loved ones. Driving a Golf R is all they can think about and all they want to do, no matter the consequences. Compulsive R-ers keep thinking about the Golf R whether they’re up or down, broke or flush, happy or depressed. Even when they know the odds are against them even seeing the automobile within several months, people with a Golf R addiction can’t “stay off the Net.”
Golf R addicts can have a problem, however, without being totally out of control. Problem R-ing is any Golf R focused behavior that disrupts your life. If you’re preoccupied with the Golf R, spending more and more time searching for information about it, chasing images, or discussing the Golf R in chat rooms despite not having much to say, you have a Golf R problem."
