I have owned 3 Alfa Romeos and never had a mechanical problem with any of them. EDIT:Must say the gear boxes were ordinary but they never failed
Also had 3 Peugeots, unfortunately cannot same the same thing about them, although I did love driving them.

I could very well see the Alfa 4C as my next car, 850kg, 170kw, hell yeah

it's going to be a weapon for sure, just not sure if I would fit in it and still be able to drive!

        • Add the volvo V40 to the mix?

          Volvo praised for new technology

I have already voted the A class, but this looks promising depending on how it drives. Exterior styling very good.

If the illustreated HUD could highlight hot babes and i press a button to "pick up", then i am sold! That's one hell of an option! :p

          • Yeah the V40 T5 sports version looks like a brilliant car. They did a C30 Polestar prototype too which is one sexy car. Strongly recommend YouTube'ing it.

            The C30 Polestar sounds HAWWT!!!

Yep, much closer comparison to the golf than the alpha too.

As much I hate to admit though, after talking to people and reading as much as I can find, I think my money is swinging to the a250, especially as Australia is only getting the Engineered by amg and not the standard A250 Sport, and seems it's really good bang for buck.

Interesting though that most reviewers critise the ride on most of these cars, including the Volvo

              • How much is that "drive away"?

                • The journos seem to be estimating the AMG A45 will be in the $80k ballpark.

Can't find any estimates for the V40 T5 R-Design, although the S40 T5 R-Design is around $45k, and the V60 T5 R-Design is around $65k, so I expect it would be somewhere in the middle of those two.

kinda goes with the territory, 18" wheels, low profile tyres, stiff sports suspension. people probably dont buy them for the ride.

yep a250 has me drawn, will know soon enough in the next month or so if for me

A250 Engineered by AMG (the only A250 coming to Australia), $49990 + on roads. So be looking around $57000 drive away. Been told Corp discount if u can get it, is about $3000 less plus some free servicing and few other bits. The standard kit is good though, including panarama roof, park assist, bixeons,15mm lower with upgraded sus, tweeked transmission and steering, amg wheels with standard tyres NOT runflats, and power output bumped to 166kw for up to 30 seconds at a time under certain conditions

The A45 which will be the full on real AMG A series will be haldex awd with around 250kw, 400nm. Will go head to head with m1 and rs3 I guess. Just beat them both around Nurburgring, if that means anything.

Agree, just can't understand why these motoring journos continue to see this as a critisism. If they didn't have firm sus then I would be upset.

Got quoted similar, prob depends which state in for on roads where I'm at its $55k on the road but yeah fully loaded as standard. Rather than dollar discount because not even released expect option thrown in as sweetener. And coro discount for me would be free servicing which is a given

I just see it as Prob cheapest entry point for anything AMG engineered and for what seems a decent car.

Alfa Giulietta prob going to get its entry price slashed as much as 30% across Alfa range they say and this one is like the merc a250 aimed at golf teritory so be interesting what come up with

                              • the CLA is basically the sedan version of the new A class hatchback.

local pricing of CLA starts at $50k and is $15k up from the corresponding A class models as per this article here.
