Has anyone hooked up an obd2 scanner to their car and monitored for any misfires? Seem to be getting a few but no codes. Car is currently Galano stage 2, intake, downpipe, intercooler, 034 ignition coils. Checked cylinder 2 and the spark plug with only 3000km on it bit dirty, no oil on it though. I've swapped that ignition coil to cylinder 4. Car always filled with 98 premium. Have some VW injection cleaner on the way in case the fuel system and injectors bit dirty/clogged.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Misfires

In VCDS and on my PolarFIS there are two counters:
* misfires per 1,000 revolutions, which is live and tells you what is happening now.
* Total misfires, which is as the name suggests, the total number of misfires.
Reading around the internet this seems to be somewhat normal for VW, especially a tuned one. Different options like coil packs, spark plugs or a vacuum leak are thrown around, but unless it's a significant number when something really is failing people seem to never get anywhere in 'fixing' it.
I know on my Mk6 118TSI there is a constant background of misfires here and there, but this seems to be "normal". You can read my pondering from nearly a decade ago and I can confirm it's continued much the same ever since. I've chased it with better R8 coils and new plugs and soon to be oil catch can, but it's still there. Many theories around this particular engine abound, but it is what it is.
