Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The problem is that even at a little less than 6-7GB, these files take a very long time to upload on any third-party hosting site
If you PM and send me a blank 8 GB thumb drive and self-addressed return paid-postage, I'll send you a copy of whatever is the latest version map that I have. I could re-compress the files into .7z format, but probably better if just leave the files unpacked.
My advice - start by placing a full copy of your existing 2013 files onto your PC (always worthwhile insurance in case the process goes pear-shape!!)

Thanks - I'll find a thumb drive, organise the postage and PM you when I get over this damned lurgy (not the lager lurgy though)
It would be easier to post an SD card (and I'm certain have spares) ... do you have the means to write a micro SD or full size SD?Last edited by The J Man; 15-11-2022, 04:28 PM.MY17 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline, DAP, Sunroof, Caribbean Blue

Select your car, year and infotainment model here - Volkswagen Map Updates ..... DiscoverCare for Windows is will be on the page with Update Maanager as it's title - would do a screen shot but this software forum doesn't seem to like them. Create a shortcut on your desktop for ease of use once downloaded and extracted.
Have the SD card ready unlocked and inserted in an SD Card slot on your PC ..... start DiscoverCare and it will do the backup then download then install and confirm installation ..... takes the angst out of it.
Use it with no issues .... takes about an hour all up.
If you have a Mac then all you can do is try the DiscoverCare for Mac and see how it goes.Last edited by ShawnK; 26-11-2022, 07:23 PM.

However have never had a unit that used a specific VW card so am not sure if you still need it.2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B

Well ....
I now temporarily own a Windows laptop (With VCDS!) so I installed DiscoverCare on it
It THINKS it's updating my maps from 2013 to 2020 with a < 4GB download
This should be interestingMY17 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline, DAP, Sunroof, Caribbean Blue

... and that's a bust
Looks like it just downloaded P57_N60S3MIBS2_ROW_NT.7z which is what I've already tried
so the card was updated to a 2020 map (late 2019 I'd say)
Car sees there's a nav database on it but then refuses to load it - just like when I did all of this manually
So I'm back to trying to find a dealer that knows how to enable MapCare on the old 2013 MIB1 unitsMY17 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline, DAP, Sunroof, Caribbean Blue

PS:As I have said previously, the dealer will likely charge for the minimum time for the master-tech (which is one-hour - about $200). It shouldn't take anywhere near one-hour to load MapCare
So -if you intend to throw money at a dealer for MapCare - i suggest that a better way to get more bang for your bucks is to ask for the latest update of the firmware in the hex5F module (the infotainment unit in the glove box that operates SATNAV). A hex5F update should contain MapCare and it shouldn't cost any more !! And with the updated firmware, you should also get the added benifit of better pronunciation of the SATNAV voice messages (still not good - but better than on the original firware)Last edited by DV52; 23-11-2022, 08:04 AM.Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. kidding aside, the service guys at my local VW have been excellent so far so it should be interesting if I can get more wallet friendly rates (perhaps if I combine the update with a service they'll be a little more generous)MY17 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline, DAP, Sunroof, Caribbean Blue
