Thanks for the tips, what range of sandpaper grit did you use please...

Started with 80, then on to 160, then 400, then 800 and finally 1500. Spent most time on 80 and 160 and the others went much quicker as it progressively got smoother.

While I'm waiting to buy new tyres, I stuck a pair of carbon look mirror trim covers on the 110. Looks pretty decent.


These are covers only, meaning they stick on to the actual mirror cover. (I used the R's silver covers as a base to preserve the white covers)

I fitted proper carbon mirror covers to the R the day after I got it. Looks pretty similar

Would you go for stage II & Stage III?

Thanks, I doubt the clutch will handle much more power, although I have found a Sachs clutch for this gearbox (in Europe) that can handle 20% more power, so not sure I'm going to be chasing more power. Besides, I don't drive it often these days (its my daughter's daily now) and I just play with it for fun.

The rear valance (GTI style with 2 x single tips) arrived late last week ...

So I discovered a MK7 rear valance does definitely NOT fit a MK7.5 I suspected as much but thought it was worth a try anyway given the MK7 valance was cheap.

Now to find 1 from the wreckers or new from VW so I can finally fit that GTI exhaust.

So the little 110 (sorry145) got some love this weekend.

1st up was the sunglass holder. The 110TSI Trendline misses out on this very expensive bit of kit ....

Yup, I had to step out for a min.

Mk7 GTI cat-back exhaust (yes this is only the silencer shown) to go on

They look tiny in this photo.

The stock 110TSI is a 2" pipe from the cat back and the GTI is 2.5" So reducer was needed too.

Nest steps would be to get tyres on the newly painted rims and then some SuperNova aftermarket headlights (and possibly tails) to go on.

Looking good! I just installed a set of Golf R quad tips on the Tig and it looks way better than the fake outlets in the bumper.
