aftermarket brake kits

As I’m due for new brake pads next service and possibly rotors not to far after. I’m wondering if it is worth getting aftermarket.?
Is there cheaper/same cost packs that are better than VW brakes/rotors that don’t require changing the calipers?

Any downsides doing this, warranties etc?
