  • Car Won't Accelerate

Hi guys, got a problem. So yesterday filled up petrol and car wouldn't accelerate (would rev up high and go like 1km/h), reverse seemed ok. Engine light and EPC light both came on and on the multi function display it said error with start stop even though i wasn't using it. I filled up at 7/11 with 98 petrol (100% sure i used the right petrol).
Took it to my mechanic and he then cleaned the throttle/cleared the fault code (throttle valve malfunction) and then the car drove fine for about 10min and then screwed up again with the same issue.

He said to replace the throttle valve is around 2k. Just wanted to get a 2nd opinion if this seems an ok price and seems like the problem.

You don't state whether your car is DSG or manual. Also what type of Golf is it?
If an engine revs but those revs don't result in acceleration then to my mind it has to be a drivetrain issue - clutch/transmission/differential.

That sounds like guessing competition to me. Tell him that if he diagnosis it and fits the parts and the fix does not work you are not paying. I guess he has been paid for the work that did not fix the fault already because if he has ask him for the money back.
