  • Still own your Mk6 GTI from new?

Just curious to see who is still driving their car from new in 2010?
There has always been a good selection for sale at various online sites, people who had their fun? Time to sell??
Mine was seven years old last March, still enjoying the hell out of it.
(It probably rides a bit harsher than I'd like, I have it dropped quite low-tucking just under at the rear-slight rubbing..)
But man, she handles like it's on rails. (big grin )

I just sold my 2010 model MK6 GTI about 2 weeks ago to a guy up in Brisbane. I had owned it for about 3.5yrs. I tend to get bored with my cars after about 3-4 years so that's about the time frame i tend to keep my cars.

Haha, well, I can relate to that....kinda. This GTI I'm in is probably the longest I've owned a car.
Not in a financial spot to upgrade anytime soon, so she will have to keep me happy for a while yet.

Wow, that' a mighty effort, good on ya. I'm edging closer to the 100k mark, currently resting at 97 and a bit.

I once just needed a second car. No spare cash. I purchased in 2010, from the original owner, 1986 Volvo 240 GL with only 112,000km on the clock. 24 years and only 112,000km. Owner, retred GP from the lower north shore, lost their license due to going blind.

Yep, still go mine. Jan 2010 Build. 75,000 km.
Only ever had to replace the battery and two front tyers.
              Best car ever.

Yep still rolling on , only 42,000km , battery and coil pack , probably due to stage 1 .

They tried to get me into a mk7 DSG recently , still find them wobbly at low speed .

This the longest stretch for me too , I just find it so easy to drive round town , and a beast out on the B roads .

Ditched the gutter rash detroits recently for a nice matt black set of wheels .

The bride wants me to get a Tiguan 162tsi as she has a Merc A200 , says we don't need two small hatches ..

I will weep when I sell this car

Still have my 2012 GTI... 100% stock... From day 1 that DSG fart always puts a smile on my face.

Only issue was when it was new, the ****wit apprentice at the dealership pinched the fuel line during a service. Needless to say I've been going to a VW specialist since and have had zero issues.

Not quite a GTI but I bought my MK6 Cabriolet new in 2011 and it's only got 30,000km on it today. I love the cab and love the MK6 styling... but damn those MK7's look nice!

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Mine's a June 09 build, ~155Ks and still going strong. Recently doing more and more track time without any major hassles. Super happy with this car.

Yep, Aug 11 build MY12. I've owned it since Dec 11, 106k on it now. APR tuned 2 weeks after I bought it.

Had the following non-standard schedule stuff installed/changed/fixed.

                        Dogbone insert at 15k
                        Water pump failed at 72k
Drivers door power window switches broke and replaced at ~85k
Front rotors and pads done at 90k
Interim DSG fluid change at 90k (in addition to the scheduled 60k one)
Coils, plugs, carbon canister and N80 valve all changed ~95k
                        PCV changed at 105k
                        Edit...forgot the DV+ installed at 105k

Midway through my 3rd set of tyres, car is going very well now. Ready for another 5 years or so!

Owned since 5/2010. Car still drives great. Couple of issues through out it's life but nothing major really.
                          Still love it.

I've owned my Sep 11 MY12 build GTI since Dec 11.

Pretty much stock standard apart from the R LED tails. Still love the damn thing. No major fault so far thankfully but I did get the timing chain tensioner replaced a few months back.

New set of wheels going on soon though. SSR GTX01 18x8 +45 in Dark Silver. Soooooo looking forward to it!
