What is the sync? Is that to make both left and right adjust together?
Edit: answered in bold sport web site, sync= dual.

Golf 7 Climatronic upgrade for Golf 6

Its a straight swap - takes 10 mins and its all done.

Yes, "SYNC" means that the temp on both sides is sync'd. If a passenger adjusts the temp on their side to be either higher or lower, then the sync button will turn off (meaning dual zone climate control is activated).

I love the little digital temp readouts, cleaner layout of the buttons and dials, and the temp increments are 0.5 degrees.

Hey Lucas, any chance of posting a bit of a DIY for us mate? Just out of interest, where did you source the part, and how much did it cost?

That bold sport one seems to imply the $200 is 2 units? But the English is so bad,I wonder if it just means one climate control unit and one fascia panel? There is a diy link or two in this thread isn't there? It does need VCDS to get it calibrated.

            Climate control conversion

Got it from Bold Sport. No VCDS coding needed. It comes with the new Climatronic mechanism and the new dash trim piece. DIY info below (pinched from the "other" forum) that was put together by jamesatfish who is also a member on this forum.

If you're doing an install yourself, here's a quick how-to.

            Short Version
            1. Remove old climatronic unit
            2. Install new climatronic unit
            3. Test A/C Operation
            4. Perform Compressor Initialisation if needed

            Long Version
            1. Remove old climatronic unit

Loosen the fascia at the bottom of your RNS/RCD unit. It doesn't need to come off completely, but loosening it will make re-installing the fascia for the climatronic easier. A small flat screwdriver used from the sides can help get a corner up, but gentle force by hand is the safest way to remove the fascia without scratching it.

Remove the fascia around the old climatronic unit. Remove the small groove cover at the bottom of the fascia and set it aside.

Use a T20 Torx bit to remove the 4 screws holding the climatronic unit in place. Pull it out gently.

Remove the 3 plugs from the back of the unit. To remove, pull the small red locking pieces upwards (towards the back of the unit), which will allow you to depress the locking tabs on the plugs themselves. Each plug is uniquely shaped so no need to panic if you can't remember which of the small plugs came from which socket.

            2. Install new climatronic unit

Re-connect the plugs into the new unit, noting that you'll need to turn the whole unit 180 degrees as the sockets on the new unit are in the opposite order. There is plenty of slack in the cables to allow this. Re-fit the unit with the 4 screws.

**At this point I would suggest performing the test and initialisation steps, in case you need to remove the unit to check connections etc.**

Install the small groove cover you removed from the old fascia into the new fascia. Re-fit the climatronic fascia underneath the RNS/RCD fascia, then re-fit the RNS/RCD fascia above.

            3. Test A/C Operation

Start the car, set the temperature settings to LO and press the AC button. Ignore any information on the RNS/RCD display - check if the AC light illuminates and the air gets cold. If neither of those things happen then the AC compressor needs to be initialised with the new climatronic unit.

            4. Perform Compressor Initialisation if needed

Start the car, turn on the fan, set the temperature to LO. Press and hold both the AC and Rear Demister buttons simultaneously for around 5 seconds. This process will initialise the AC compressor and you'll know the process has worked because the AC light will stay on once you stop pressing the buttons (and the air will get cold).

            Note re VCDS

If you need to troubleshoot the unit for any reason using VCDS, be sure to use the latest BETA version of VCDS, as the production release (11.11.6) does not include definitions for this Mk7 unit.

Thanks for all the info once again, this is certainly my next purchase. Just one last question, do you still get the read out on the 510RCD when you change the climate settings?

              Cheers.

The new mk7 unit looks pretty simple like the ordinary one I have in my mk6 90tsi. It doesn't have climate control but not as clumsy as the mk6 version that does. And it's pretty simple to use. Won't bother upgrading!

I wonder why Bold Sport's listing for the panel says "set of 2"... surely they only include one panel.

Bold-Sport.com :: Upgrade NEW ver. Climatronic Panel for Golf VI - set of 2

I am pretty tempted by this. I'd absolutely do it if I could source a new front fascia that would allow me to fit my old Climatronic into my parents' Mk5 (but it looks like you can only buy that part packaged with a new Climatronic for a Mk5). Hmm...

I assume it refers to the fact that there are 2 components in the box - the climatronic itself and the fascia plate. Certainly the ones I ordered from Bold Sport came that way.

Yes it's got 2 parts, the facia and the controls. A little confusing at first but you do have to forgive them for there English.....
