Upon returning I was hit with a near $800 bill. I went off my nut.
The service manager kindly dropped 10% off for me, still, about $710 was painful enough.
$800+ is about right for Sydney, so $800 tops would be in the ball park for regional centres.

I'm not sure why the dealer is at fault if you don't ask for a price estimate beforehand or pre-arm yourself with other owners experiences in threads like this.

Did my 60k service recently. Was told and shown that apparently the price for this service was supposed to be over $1600 but I fall under "capped price service" category, therefore my price ended up just under $800.

        $1600 for a Golf R DSG maybe.

Even if it wasn't under the CPS scheme, it'd be easily under $1000.

I think they may have been telling fibs or looked up the wrong car.

          Ummm yeah they lied
It would only cost that much if you had the 6 speed (wet clutch) DSG, which you don't

Still <$800 is a decent price for the 60k service

John Hughes (VW dealer) in Perth have quoted me $1100 for my first upcoming 60,000km service. I will definitely shop around.

I just paid $1100 for my 60K service with a dealer here in VIC but since my Pirelli got Quoted $1800 by a dealer in QLD I tend to shop with non-dealers who all quoted me $1100 in QLD... $1100 seems to be the mark...

I just got quoted $1100 for our TDi (no spark plugs) DSG incl pollen filter and brake fluid change.
It will be interesting to see what the final bill ends up being.

Well it doesn't look much better - $15xx, $13xx, $11xx, so the JH VW dealership is starting to look good.

They gave me a proper quote of $1055 when I dropped off the car and that's exactly what I ended up paying. Included was the pollen filter and brake fluid change as well as the usual service items and DSG service.

                      That's not too bad.

Mine was $2k for the 60,000km service (DSG, all the usual stuff, as well as new rear brake pads and fault finding my AC system), and then the AC system repair was done on another day under good will (would have cost another $3k for parts and labour).

My girlfriend thinks i'm ridiculous for owning a euro car lol.

Thing that gets me is the oil they use in the DSG is charged at like $50/L. That's amazing.

Would it make any difference if we supplied the synthetic oil?

                          Maybe.

If it's not the correct oil, they'll be less-inclined to use it.

But is it cheaper if we buy the right oil?

                              Sorry, which oil?

The engine oil, or the DSG oil?

It's the DSG oil that is the expensive item right?
