    Hi Guys,
I'm a noob here. Been following the threads awhile now. I've got a mk6 gti dsg that's going for the 60k kms service and I'm in Melbourne. Was looking at the gap between a VW specialist garage and that of the manufacturer/dealer. I'm on the east side so there's a few around here mainly Volkspower in Burwood. Their rates are not any better than d dealers albeit on d high side. Got quoted Doncaster VW for $1,211 ex gst. This is for DSG lube and filter plus standard service. An additional $138.00 for brake service and another $56 for pollen filter service at 2 yearly intervals. Courtesy car is complimentary while d specialist charges $22/day. Volkspower service charges are as follows:
DSG service (inc filter) is $370
    Minor service (due a 45000km) is $360
Major service at 60000km is $670, plus the DSG service ($370)
Brake fluid change due every 2 years is $80
Courtesy car is $22 for the day.

Hope you find this helpful. Do share what rates you're getting at for the blokes in Vic locations. Much appreciated. Keep dubbing boyz!

    Cheers.
    Thanks & regards,

      Try Volkstech in Heidelberg West
had all 3 of ours serviced there. great service VERY reasonably priced and excellent service.
No allegiance only very satisfied customer after suffering at the hands of incompetent dealers.

The thing is it has only just done 50,000kms, and so the guy said he didn't bother because he thinks it's just a marketing ploy to get people to service their cars and pay more money even if it hasn't done the millage.
        Ouch!!!

I change the oil on my TSI Skoda and Mazda 3 every 6 months
If you saw the condition of the old oil (particularly from the Mazda) you would not run around for two years without changing the oil,
especially on a turbo car as turbo's operate at very high RPM's - orders of magnitude faster than the engine - lubrication is vital
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

Called up my selling dealer for a quote for the 60,000Km service first week of December. Even though I've only done 46,000Km it's been 11 months since last service. They want $995!

I think that's steep even for a dealer. Now time to part ways. I'm based in Sydney. Not interested in the cheapest price, the quality of the work done is more important.

Can anyone here recommend someone to service my car?

$1k is somewhere near the money at a dealer - esp if you are DSG.

What part of Sydney (home / work) are you?

              Manual Transmission.

Sutherland Shire...don't think there is anyone local.

LOL - assume you got the price from McGraths at Kirrawee? I wouldn't trust them to fix a billy kart. The VW dealer at Rockdale is a lot better.

There's a couple of generic Euro specialists in Caringbah - I haven't used them though.

You might try Steve Natoli - he has a mobile service.

If Marrickville isn't too far try Metro Service Centre - looks daggy but good mechanics that look after a lot of Euro cars.

The other one that I've been told about is Autowerks Automotive at Beverly Hills

I get mine done at CAmden GTI but I work out that way.

                  Thanks for all the info.
                  Quote was from Denlo Parramatta.
Will call Rockdale VW as they're "local", I keep forgetting that dealership exists.
I fly out of Camden several times a year - might get some hours up whilst car is serviced.
                  I'll call Marrickville tomorrow.
                  Thanks again.

Instead of starting a new thread, I am going to ask on here since I got quite a bit of info from here already.

Can someone confirm this sounds about right ? Car is a 2012 Octavia VRS so same intervals as MK6 GTI:

This will be the 4 year/60,000km service (delivered 6/13). Car is out of warranty so after the proper things to do at this upcoming service and the next.

It is essentially the 4 year/60,000 km service but the car will only be at 40,000 at the time of service .. so ...

                    * Air filter - have K&N
                    * Pollen filter - have changed myself
                    * Brake fluid - it will be 24 months since my last change, so I will change this at this service
                    * DSG service - should I wait until 60,000 kms ?
                    * Spark plugs - is everyone changing theirs at 60,000 kms ?
                    * Fuel filter - should I wait until 60,000 kms or do it now, I don't trust my local servos ......
                    * Coolant - what are the recommendations ? I have read it is supposed to be a lifetime coolant .... just like the timing chain ... lol. We all know how that ends up.

Let me know if I have missed something.

                    Cheers guys
