Intake manifold is in and runs loads smoother with no rattle or sputter when I hold it at 1400 rpm. It has not fixed the cold start splutters though but they don't seem as bad and it clears up quicker, but my car did run crap at low rpm and light throttle due to the manifold. Might try a new pre cat O2 sensor, I've already put in a coolant temp sensor.

New intake manifold in. Runs like a dream but still have little jerks when cold under light throttle and lie rpm. After 2 minutes of driving there are no issues. With 130000klms on the clock I can live with this.

Similar thing on my 2.0T also, around 2500rpm'ish only when the engine oil temp is less than 50 degree celsius or so. Occurs only when I run 5w30 oil, but doesn't do it when I run 0w40

Just ordered pre cat O2 sensor and an intake temp sensor just to see if these improve this issue. I've no faults but with the high klms it's probably about time I cleaned and replaced some sensors.

Did the intake manifold solve the problem? No more jerking etc? Or are you still getting the small misfires?

That's interesting that you mention the oil. Mine is exactly the same and will jerk around when the oil temp is less than 80-90 degrees. After that, the car is as smooth as can be.
Thanks for the info btw. Going to give 0w40 a try on the next oil change

No intake manifold didn't fix the issue although the car does run better but my manifold was shot. Jerking is not as violent and is quicker to clear up, around when oil temp is 60+. I'm going to try a new manifold temp sensor and pre cat O2 sensor.

Just found this, it's an old thread but is almost the same symptoms as what I'm having in this thread and my other thread regarding clutch issues. Ant thoughts would be appreciated.

                      Hey Reedy.

Watched your video, so it seems to be a 'clutch' related issue, e.g: when you're operating the clutch the stumble and fuel consumption figures seem to be affected, yet when no operation of clutch everything seems normal?

Thanks mate. Don't know why the clutch would do this. Any ideas as to what part of the clutch or could it be some kind of sensor to do with the clutch? Also seems strange it's just at these rpm's. Idle and above 1600 rpm's and it seems fine, between 1000 and 1400 rpm's it's crap with the clutch pushed in and it takes 4 seconds to come good when I let the clutch out and if I set off and have the car at these rpm's it gives me a 4 second delay before anything happens and my fuel consumption is up. I'm also worried that this stumble will break another intake manifold.

Not too many idea's, ill do some research for you and get back to you. This is a very unusual fault (never seen it on a VW before). Spoken to you before about this and just seems unusual that you've put an aftermarket clutch in and have this fault occur, I am inclined to think it's not the car itself but the actual clutch related change if that makes sense... Do you still have your stock clutch kit?

Stock clutch was slipping so it needed a new one. Might just bite the bullet and get VW to do it. I still have warranty on the clutch that was fit by my local garage until November so might get some money back???? If it is the clutch. Thanks for your help.

Clutch switch will cause driveability problems but not the stumble you mention, it can make the jerk a fair bit between gears. Have only replaced one on a MK5 and was the 1.6, it would jerk a bit, was a real pain to fit.

The only issue shifting is when I'm sat still at some lights. Every so often I'll pull up to stop and be in 1st or 2nd gear with the clutch pressed in, it will be hard to get out of gear and once it's out it won't go into another gear without releasing the clutch and pressing it again. Changing gear when moving there are no issues.
