Christ, that doesn't make me feel good about where my car might be priced at? Basically lost $10k in a year, luckily I'll be keeping mine so the resale isn't an issue but I guess gti and golfs aren't so hot after all

    • I think it was mentioned before that the 3-doors are harder to sell; that seller might've been in a hurry to "go overseas".

yeh its weird, i specifically only wanted a 3dr when i bought mine. its like anything i guess, it fills a niche, someone will want one sooner or later

        • Selling My Car - Need Advice Please

          Hey Guys,

Firstly this is not an ad, however i was hoping for some advice.

I'm planning on selling my 2009Golf Mk6 103 TDI (Black with Tan/Cream Leather) DSG and only 42,000km.
I've visited a few dealers to talk about trade in (As i need a quick sale) however the best i've been offered is $22,500.

I was hoping to get around $25 or $26,000 min, so i'm just wondering if that dealer offer is any good?

Any help from you pro's would be much appreciated!

          Nik

          • Have a look for similar cars on carsales.com.au to see what prices they're asking for - should help you work out the ballpark.

Got any photos of the car? I've not seen another Mk6 Golf with the beige interior (I also have it).

              • I've read numerous comments here that redbook often under-values VWs

                • Redbook is a way for insurers to screw people over to pay them out less.

A trade in price will always be too low. As stated above check out Carsales.

                  • But the thing with dealers is that it's quick, easy and convenient. A private sale may take months but if you're patient it's worth it.

                    • Agreed, i work for a fairly large dealership and sometimes hear through guys who have inquired about a specific car etc what the dealership actually paid for it, sometimes its criminal how little people get.

                      • I just bought a brand new GTi and had a MINI Cooper S to get rid of. The dealer offered me $16k as trade in, I sold it on Carsales for $27k but it did take a couple of months.
Selling privately will always get you more cash, it's just down to whether you want the hassle or have the time.

                        • Thank Guys.. I really appreciate your comments/help!

Unfortunately i'm pretty time poor at the moment and would like to sell the car (i knew i would be taking at least a 3 grand hit taking it to a dealer), but PDU that difference is pretty big! Bad thing at the moment is that the Mk7's are coming out (very very soon I heard) so i'm assuming this will make it worse for my position yeah?

Ryan, unfortunately i don't have any pics at the moment, but i've also never seen another beige with black!
I think it looks pretty sweet that combo, so i'll definitely be sad to part with it...

                          • I can't see too many people waiting for the mk7 really. From what I've seen there isn't a massive difference.

                            • Just the more Audi-ish interior is the biggest draw as far as I can tell. Plus the weight savings, extra performance and less fuel usage on the GTI and R might tempt some. Don't see a case for owners of more normal Golf 6's to upgrade to the non-sport 7 though.

                              • Cheers PDU and Ryan,

That's put things into perspective a bit more thats for sure... I thought people would be all over the latest and greatest, but maybe
everyone can see through the fact that the 7 is not really a big upgrade!
