The dealer has provided me with a VWA checklist that they work to for each service.
Trouble is it differs a great deal from what is outlined in my service book.
So the issue is with VW and not the dealer as I see it
Judging by the standard of the owners manual I shouldn't be suprised that the log book is an inaccurate POS

I'm getting my wife's Jetta done next week for a 5 year service (timing belt etc) at Golfwagen, they were very helpful with all my enquiries, also spoke to them about the R for it's next service as I wasn't happy with the $495 that Wangara VW charged, especially as they scratched one of my rims when doing a rotate and balance (and I've had no follow up since lodging the complaint!) Anyway Golfwagen quoted a reasonable price for the next service on the R, so I'll most likely take it there also.

Shakespeare, consider buying the timing belt kit overseas and having Golfwagen instal it for you. this would save you a few $$$

$495 for the first service and they stuffed your rim!! Can you please let me know how you go at Golfwagen Chris, may consider taking the R there instead.

What about warranty work? i want to get the clip fix done for the annoying wastegate/exhaust rattle on the wife's Tiguan, i guess that will have to go back to VW for that?

I know Golfwagen have a very good reputation, but so does Quattro Motors, and they're a lot closer to Manning & Como than Wangarra is. I took my Golf to QM for its 30,000km service and I'll certainly be going back there.

Warranty work will always have to be done at a Volkswagen dealership - normal service not.

It was the 30,000km service (16 months ownership)
The bill was $700 which surprised me a bit but I thought at the time if that's the cost then so be it.
My wife drove the car home and when I drove it that night I was a bit surprised that the "200km to service" warning came up so I reset the MFD myself.
As the invoice specifically stated that the service indicator had been reset it left me with little confidence that the work had been done as stated.
As I looked at the invoice I discovered that according to the book a 30,000km service is a interval service but I've been given an inspection service which is a far more comprehensive (and expensive) sevice.
They even charged me for replacing the brake fluid which the book states should not be done until after 3 years.
All this extra work was not advised to me prior to the service.
I trusted them to do the right thing but I think I've been over serviced and ripped off.
Is this the case? My car is not subjected to severe operating conditions
Brake Fluid is a 2 year interval - sure you are at 16 months but the dealerships tend to do the brake fluid at 30k,60k,90k, etc because otherwise they'd have to take their workboots off to do the time calculations. My dealership did similar to me after 16months ownership but I figured that as the car had sat in the holding yard for 6 months & delivery from EU took 2 months, then we were probably close enough.

Also, the 30k is more thorough than the 15k IIRC.

I now take my car to an independant & we discuss what needs to be brought forward & what can wait. heaps better than the 'one size fits all" attitude at the dealer.

                    • Any recent feedback on VW in Victoria Park (John Hughes) ?

Rang around about 15000km service and got the following quotes:
                      Wangara - $420
                      Osborne Park - $380
                      John Hughes - $385
                      Golfwagen - $270-280
                      Quattro Motors - $350-400
Although the last two don't offer software update, so seems like no go for me then.

Couldn't get throughout to Melville - must be out for lunch

                      • So just to clarify, ONLY dealers get or are allowed to do software updates?

                          • I will be taking my car into John Hughes Vic Park around end of Feb or early March when my 15K service should be due.

Not sure if you can wait till then for my review of the experience there.

Thanks, I think that's about the time when my service will be due, I'm at 13k at the moment.

                              • Cheapest I have found was Golfwagon in Wangara.

Had my car in for warranty issues yesterday so got my 22500 (interval service) done at Wangara was around $380. I do like the service there, mainly because I like Tash and get along well with her.
