    Hello moped899
I merged your thread with a "Servicing in WA" thread I found in the http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...t**-59253.html thread. Whilst you're not asking for servicing, you're asking for VW specialists in WA who will do work on your VW for you. That means either VW dealers, or VW specialists. Both are listed in this thread. Cheers.

How are WA dealers with people taking their VW in for logbook servicing if it was purchased from another dealer? Do the dealers share information as to the service and logbook?

Has anyone rated the service departments from best to worst?

You can take it to any dealer for the service, or another place that can service VWs (ie has the computer gizmo that can talk to a VW such as Golfwagen in Wangara or Quattro in Vic Park).

Dealers do not share information, but should record things in the log book. You can also ask for a print-out of the computer interrogation of your car for your own records. (Golfwagen attach this to your receipt).

Read through this thread and you will find peoples comments on different dealers in regard to services, but there is yet to be any sort of objective rating scale. Some people will not return to a certain dealer, while others will rave about them...

I bought my car from Osborne Park VW, had my first service at Wangara VW and second at Golfwagen. I will go to Golfwagen again...

Mine will be going in to Quattro Motors next Friday 12/08/2011 for the 30k service. They're not quite the closest to where I live, but they're not far from JH VW who would be the closest to me. And it will be a relief when the blasted car stops whining at me to SERVICE NOW whenever I turn on the ignition!

              7500km Service

              Hi all,

Just got letter from the dealership I bought my Golf from.
They booked me in for 6 month service??? WTF?
I thought I need to service it at 15k or 12 month (that's what MFD says anyway).
              Are they pulling something shifty?
Do I have to service it now or can I wait until I hit 15,000km?

              Thanks

Just call them and discuss it.

As per the service manual with the owners handbook, you can wait for 1 year or 15,000km (whichever comes first) unless you feel that you meet one of the reasons listed to do it earlier.

My MFD (as well as that VW reminder sticker on the windshield) shows 7500km for the service..

If your MFD was showing 15k since new, I'm guessing that was set by the dealership pre-delivery?

I was told by my dealer that the 7500 is optional. It’s an inspection service, it’s a good idea just to double check to make sure everything’s OK..

They stated the following conditions that require 6 month check (and added "Volkswagen Australia recommends"):

                    - A high percentage of stop and go traffic (my trip to and from work runs through back roads where average speed is 80-90km/h and no traffic lights)
                    - Regular short trips (my trip to work is 14km, is it considered a "short trip"? Oil warms up to over 85 degrees by the time I get to work)
                    - Long periods of engine idling (I assume they apply that to sitting in traffic jams, which I'm not)
                    - Operation in region with high dust level (I don't live in outback and drive in the sand dunes
                    - Regular trailer towing (don't have one)

So what should I do in this situation? Will I lose VW warranty if I don't service the car at 7500km? It's just my dealership is almost 60kms drive. What would be an approximate cost of this servicing at the dealership?

the service is optional, but arguably, it looks better in the log books when you get round to selling the car.

you could also get it serviced at Quattro Motors (Bursood) or Golfwagen (Wangara) and i suspect they might charge you less

warranty won't be voided by ignoring the 6 month/7500km service.

How much do you recon it will cost? over $300?

my 6 month service at Wangara VW cost $395. This included rotating the tyres and an oil change (apparently). I asked about wheel alignment ( as some people in these forums have had issues witht he wheel alignment that their cars were delivered with) and this was extra.

I did my 12 month service at Golfwagen in Wangara and this was cheaper and quicker.

I suggest that if you do want it done then go to Golfwagen in Wangara or Quattro in Vic Park. It won't void your warranty, they have VAg equipment, it will be cheaper and people here only have nice things to say about them.

Also, if you let them know in advance, they will do it while you wait.

I've just had my VW serviced last week.
It was the 30,000km service (16 months ownership)
The bill was $700 which surprised me a bit but I thought at the time if that's the cost then so be it.
My wife drove the car home and when I drove it that night I was a bit surprised that the "200km to service" warning came up so I reset the MFD myself.
As the invoice specifically stated that the service indicator had been reset it left me with little confidence that the work had been done as stated.
As I looked at the invoice I discovered that according to the book a 30,000km service is a interval service but I've been given an inspection service which is a far more comprehensive (and expensive) sevice.
They even charged me for replacing the brake fluid which the book states should not be done until after 3 years.
All this extra work was not advised to me prior to the service.
I trusted them to do the right thing but I think I've been over serviced and ripped off.
Is this the case? My car is not subjected to severe operating conditions
