What a god damn rip off. Ill be ringing my brother (who works at Audi) to see how much i can get them through Audi, otherwise ill go with the R-Dash or ECS Tuning option for a much cheaper price.
Thats surprisingly high, just released in the UK at £26.40 each all in. £26.40 x 1.54 exchange rate x 2 off = $81.30
May be worth tapping up relatives in the UK???

What's that you say RW1? You're happy to purchase and ship LED plate lights to us poor overcharged saps in the colonies?

                (Hehe, just kiddin'.)

As an aside, I've shot an email to the supplier of my LED tails (German VW dealer) to see if he's interested in supplying them, and what they'd cost. I'm also keen to find out if the replacement units will require some coding adjustments with VCDS, or if the units themselves draw the same current by some means.

My dealership would be a little suspicious if I went in and ordered how many sets

They are plug & play. No VCDS needed and no wiring/plug changes (at least on the Scirocco Mk3 and I would strongly assume th esame on the Golf 6.) No additional resistors.

So my contact has replied: (corrected for grammar)

I can send you 2 LED plate lights you for 70€.

We have tried to encode the computer, and have not found a way!!!

I can't tell you how to install the lights without an error message displaying on the MFD.
Note that he was replying in the context of my car - an MY10 (week 12 2010 build) GTI with halogens.

So... 70 Euros sounds decent (that's 35 each including shipping). But I'd want to be at least reasonably confident that they'd not throw bulb errors before I bought them myself. I suppose I could get an auto electrician to solder in some resistors, but that sounds like a fair hassle for what is in my view a minor change.

Looking up what people overseas are finding:

                              - Some people can just plug and play them with no bulb out warning.
                              - Some people cant just plug and play and they get the bulb out warning.

And there does not appear to be any software changes you can do to remove the bulb out warning.

What it comes down to is what version of the BCE (Central Electronics) you have in your car. (version 0645)

VWVortex.com - Installed *OEM* LED license plate lights today

Rear End Finished! But Bulb Error Light Up!

The only way your really going to know is if you order them and see if you get the bulb out warning. Unless you check what version of the CE you need to have.

I have a feeling that MK11 cars will be fine but MK10 cars wont be. But you never know...

0645 is fairly brand spanking. There are MY11 cars still running 0615, which up until very recently was the current version AFAIK.
