Honestly, no offense to the OP, but are you an idiot or really that unsure?
The R is the R. The EVO is the EVO. Different cars. Which one do you like?
Coming on here in the MK VI forum and saying that the resale of the R is not going to be as good as the R32 because the R looks so plain.. Is ordinary form to say the least.
Get your hand off it is all I can say and recommend that you buy the EVO. Japanese cars like the EVO have excellent performance.
But if you "werent impressed" by the EVO VIII and you are trying to make out like you want a Golf R - it doesnt make sense.
The EVO/STI are production spec rally cars. The R is a production spec luxury car with enough poke for fun.
Other than outright speed, the R to me is the better car in every way.
But I still think you would enjoy an EVO more..
And as for "almost" buying an Evo and then settling got a 1.4ltr "Honda Civic!?"..
Dude, you have to ask if you were actually ever going to buy an EVO.. thats just 2 different cars there.. nice car vs **** box2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |

This is kinda like asking someone should I buy a hotdog or a pie for lunch. What I like might not be what you like. I personally chose the R for the fact that I can have an all rounder. It is a good balance of everything I'm after. Didn't want pure performance that has harsh ride 100% of the time. I don't always want to fee likel I'm on the race track. The R has that sleeper appeal to it as well. Not really into that "look at me" scene. At the end of the day it is a personal choice that the individual can only make the choice. If someone asks me about "x" car and they buy it, then hate it, is it then my fault?Golf R, Rising Blue, 5 Door, DSG and some extra fruit.

I do agree the golf R is the better all rounder but not for the money they were asking.

And like I said and a few more have echoed.. it is the mans choice. And probably should not wait on his forum results to make up his mind.2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |

For the days when you just can't be bothered getting the Veyron out of the garage.
