I am going to hazard a guess that the contract says Golf GTI...... MY11....... Which is NOT Standard with BT & MDI. If a MY12 is delivered then that is a bonus for the buyer.. Price stays the same

It doesn't matter what the dealer is paying for the car.
I think the only real issue here is if the price of the car increases, and it's passed onto the customer and they don't take into account the fact that BT and MDI are now standard.

This is simple, you're given a contract, you read it carefully (if you don't you deserve to live with the consequences), and if you choose to accept it, then you sign it.
That should be even better than a handshake or your word, as it is clear and in black and white.
Don't like the terms of your contract after that? Bad luck, time to man up and accept what you signed up for.
We hear a lot of complaints about dealers on here, but unfortunately for them they have to put up with a lot of shonky customers.--------------------------

Not all of us are boy racers so it's incredibly disappointing that VW would make these options only available on the sports variantsResident grumpy old fart

I think it will have to do with demand.. the lower end models probably don't hit a market segment that wants those options so why offer it. If you want to put it where it is desired.
Though I would argue both those options should be standard on the top modelsCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

Yeah - not all of us are enthusiasts who love having a lot of options.
Apparently the "average consumer" is complete confused by Volkswagens model line up and particularly their options. The "average consumer" dislikes the "complexity" of the option choices.
I would think that is a load of crap... except we do see that reflected by some people here, and since the "average consumer" doesn't yet spend a few weeks on forums researching their car, I guess I can understand...

I just hope VW remembers that GTI and R customers are on the whole enthusiasts that LIKE having lots of options. I couldn't care less what they offer on the lower end models. I'd say virtually no one considering purchasing a lower spec model would be remotely interested in ACC anyway.MY 12 Golf GTI

But he hasn't. He's negotiated himself a nice "little' (read big) discount.
I think we all need to step back a moment here and use some common sense guys. We're no longer talking about RRP prices. SChan has already negotiated a 14% discount off RRP.
Also consider the fact that whilst Bluetooth and MDI might now be "Free" - it's only free to the consumer. SOMEONE still has to pay for it. As Maverick has pointed out, who are we to say it's not the dealer paying for this "free" item via lower margins?
Obviously to expect $550 + $270 to be "refunded" is just simply ridiculous since SChan hasn't paid RRP anyway. But even asking for that amount minus 14% might be pushing the relationship if it is infact the dealers margin that the cost of these now "free" items have been taken from.
NOW - if SChan and the dealer ripped up the contract and renegotiated based on the new RRP - that's a fair thing to do... Whether it'd come to any different conclusion is another thing.
And before anyone starts ripping into my post. Is there anyone here who has ever had to pay more than their contracted price on their VW purchase for any reason other than increase in onroad costs due to federal/state government tax/registration/insurance increases? If there is, they've never posted about it whilst I've been a member here....
When the car was ready for pickup VWA had announced the unlimited km warranty which worked out better for me of course. I am not sure if this had pushed the price of the extended warranty up but Dermot informed me that the price had more than doubled since my original purchase date, they wore the cost of this.
I am not sure of my total discount level as it is a lease car and I get out of stamp duty and some other charges, but it was up around 10k off RRP.
