They had exactly the same issue for the MKV GTI's. I personally think that anything over 3 months is unacceptable. Don't advertise something you don't have in my opinion.

jackysta was given an original ETA, but it was pushed back twice so I feel his disappointment.

It's not up to jackysta to consider VW's multi million dollar empire, but rather VW's to not miss lead customers/dealers with unreliable ETA's.

You're not alone jackysta I personally know of 4 people who changed their mind due to lead times.

But his ETA was not given by VGA, it was given by a Dealer, and the dealer mislead him. We have known for months now of the delays with certain cars...

Agreed, that's why some dealers are bagged out on public forums.

Thanks for the sympathy guys but worry no more as i have cancelled the order and have ordered a demo from chatswood classic details will be in the official ordered thread! Really excited pick up should be next week

So back on topic it changed my mind from a new golf r to a demo golf r

See, that's what I'm talking about! About the only thing missing is MDI, which you could install yourself if you wanted. If you still wanted black alloys, a trip to a bodyshop will fix that. Plus you've got Sunroof and Satnav! Better car all around, and you got it now!

Thanks! I am happy that i get to experience the car earlier.. but it did cost more as the additional options was worth around $8000 including gst and stamp duty. Probably emotions got in the way of rationality as the cheaper option would be to wait, but hey im getting the car in a week im sure i would forget about it once i get in the car lol!

nice one jackysta...a lot of R soon-to-be owners (myself included) wishing that could happen for them, I'm sure. Really would like to hear from someone that cancelled their R order for another V-Dub, surely someone has?

Silver earrings might look good, plenty of things to consider. I think this will be a power project, as I'm keen to take this thing as far as it can go power wise. This is, of course, if I don't completely flip out and buy a fully optioned Passat CC or new Touareg if one becomes available on a dealers lot in the meantime.

I've cancelled my Golf R order...

Hey all,

As some may have read, my Golf R was supposed to be here March 30th. Due to VW being VW (and not the dealer being misleading), that was ballooned out to June, maybe August 3 months into my epic wait.

Well, Uni has called, I need to finish my course this year, or I'll have to be a full paying enrolment. Needless to say, I need a car in March to begin the commute as the XR6T I use at the moment will be used for work during the day on site.

Anyway, due to a few unfavourable reviews and an epic wait that was only extended I began to wonder whether I should have gone the DSG. I wanted to change the order but knew full well that the order would go back of the list again if I changed so much as colour. Not good, I needed a car by March

So I rang the local Renault dealer.......

And bought this.





You all know what this is.. It's caused some controversy here in the past weeks..

She's just off the Boat and still wrapped up in plastic. Fully optioned, in the colour I wanted.

So I'm back in a Renault. Got my deposit back off VW (again South Yarra are great guys to deal with). The car's amazing to drive, (but so was the R)... I'm happy, yet dissappointed at the same time the Golf didn't work out, I was looking forward to playing with the touchscreen and the ACC, and listening to the Dynaudio.

I've had a RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup before and had nothing but fun and no problems, I'm missing out on a lot like the ACC, the Dynaudio, the Sunroof, and AWD, but I have gained a cracking hot hatch with a great pedigree, Leather Recaro Seats, and some smashing reviews worldwide.

Thanks all you lot for welcoming me and and giving me so much help during the quoting and ultimately the purchasing process of the Golf R that will now never be mine. I got a good 15% off the RRP simply because of all the knowledge attained here on VWW. For that I thank you all. Corey R, CHeers buddy, thanks for putting up with me as well Guys, please enjoy ALL of your Golfs, The TDi's, the GTi's, The TSi's and the R's.. and good luck with the waits!
